There is no spring loaded mechanism anywhere. Also the instructions tell you the brackets are the for the wrong ends... The bracket with the three little holes is for the pin end. The bracket with the slot is for the control end. The only way to fit these is to unclip/slide off the plastic overlay from the control end bracket. Then fix the brackets with plugs/screws etc. Then insert pin end into its bracket. Then drop the control arm vertically into the control bracket slot.
