I have used it for both and the details are spot on. HOT which is what I like lasts easily for 5 hours. I have used it for cold also. I have put ice in to the the level of 1/3 the depth around 5pm in the evening and have left it over night to wake and find there is still a little bit of ice left in it at 6am. This is the best insulated bottle I have EVER had. If it wasn't so heavy since it is made of metal, I would use it on my bicycle.
