Dog Anxiety Calming Wrap, X-Small, Cypress

I have an eight-month old toy poodle.She has a very calm, laid-back nature, until she has to ride in a car. Then she shakes, drools excessively, and sometimes vomits, even on very short rides. My vet prescribed an anti-nausea/anti-anxiety medication, and it did help with the vomiting. However, it had to be administered at least two hours before a car ride, and it was not inexpensive. I read a non-fiction book recently called Travels With Casey, about a man who takes a cross-country trip in an RV with his Lab. Casey freaked out during thunderstorms, which is really bad when on the road, so his owner bought him a "Thunder-shirt". First night on the road:thunder and lightning. With his shirt on, Casey didn't even flinch. I was impressed, so I looked up "Thunder-shirts" on Amazon. Actual Thunder-shirt was a bit pricey at $50+ for a six pound puppy, and I'll admit, I was still a bit skeptical about the whole concept. I found the "Mellow Shirt", and the very first reviewer said it calmed her dog to the point of no drooling, no shaking, and no vomiting! This item was also cheaper. After reading many reviews about the Mellow Shirt helping with anxiety about fireworks, separation, and car rides, I decided it was worth a try. When I received it, I let April wear it around the house for a while, because I did not want her to immediately associate it with the car. It fit her perfectly and she actually seemed to enjoy having it on. Ok, after a couple of hours, the test: a car ride of about four miles. My April was a different puppy; for the first time ever she sat up, looked around, even wagged her tail. No drooling, no vomiting, 0 anxiety!!! I have taken her on increasingly longer rides, all with the same result! This simple concept of a hug from a shirt is nothing short of a miracle in my opinion!

My 5 month old tiny little chihuahua is scared of EVERYTHING.. poor baby, so I tried this coat on her and it instantly calmed her down. No drugs, nothing, just the coat. It's very lightweight, super stretchy and very comfortable for my little girl. At first she was scared to have anything touch her head so I followed the directions and put some food on the coat and put it on her bed so she could see it was just a soft little piece of fabric. Now, weeks later she will come up to me, bow her head, and wait for me to put her "CALM COAT" (that's what we call it) on her. It has stopped her from peeing or pooping in the house at night when we are asleep and can't take her outside to go. I also put it on her if we have guests or if she seems scared of anything for any reason. I don't leave it on her all the time because if I did, all she would do is sleep. Since I've been using the coat she seems like she's gotten more courage and isn't as scared of things (when the coat is off) like she used to be. I tried 2 other brands of these coats and they were both too big and way too fussy for my tiny girl. Lola weighs only 5.5 pounds and the XXS fits perfectly! Her chest measurement is 12" around. Theres still a lot of room left on the velcro closure for her to grow. It's pretty amazing to see the difference in her. Thank you so much Mellow Shirt for helping me help my new baby 😘

Just received my order in the mail today and took it out of the packaging to try it on my pup, only to realize that it was absolutely covered in fur from another dog. I realize that exchanges and returns for sizing etc are allowed by the seller, however, to send out a product that has very clearly been re-packaged without care/concern of cleanliness is disheartening. I threw an old t-shirt over my Pup and tried on the product over it. It seems to fit ok, but will now need to wash to remove the fur that should've been removed by the seller prior to re-selling. Im hoping that it'll still fit after a wash cycle since I'll likely be unable to return/exchange at that point. The product itself seems to be made well enough with a thinner/breathable fabric that I was looking for (not 'mesh' as described in the product description- more of a thin cotton t-shirt type material). Thankfully my Pup doesn't seem to mind it much outside of the usual stiff-bodied "what did you do to me?" type response when it comes to new things on his body (he had the same response with his harness and he's acclimated to it just fine now). Overall: disappointed in the way the product arrived, sizing/fit is decent, material is ok, and pricing seems average/mostly fair for materials. Probably won't order again if we need to replace in the future.

This lil guy was a rescue from a bad situation. 1yr 6 months old lots of anxiety and all over the place. Scared of everything. Jumping at the slightest noise barking running you the window just basicly a spaz. We couldn't get him to calm down and relax for nothing which made it difficult for us to work with him to get him to trust us to show him he was safe. We got the thunder jacket which seemed to work only he could slip out of out because his neck is so small being as he's only 4lbs. We found this mellow jacked and thought why not give it a try. My lord what a difference. Without it he is all over the place. We put it on him and he is a total different pup. He is learning basic commands of sit stay and such. Not peeing all over when he is picked up. He lays down and relaxes. He doesn't go off barking at every little noise, only the normal things dogs bark at. He has stopedd annoying his doggie sister a little less. He still has a very long road ahead of him being as he was abused so badly. But this jacket is helping him so much. He even sits still now when we put it on him. The only downside is his neck is so small that sometimes he slips out of it and it slides down. But unlike the thunder jacket the neck strap is thicker and holds better but the velcro could be a bit longer for the smaller vests. But that is not often and we don't leave the jacket on him unless we are home. Thank you for this product helping an abused pup to sooth his anxiety so he can live a somewhat normal life.

This little shirt is a MUST have for any of your fur-babies that is afraid of thunderstorms. Our little yorkie Bentley (who is a rescue) is terrified of thunderstorms. He would start shaking uncontrollably, panting, pacing, and vomiting from fear. Absolutely nothing could calm him. So, I started looking at thunder shirts when I found this one. Based on the reviews I was skeptical but needing to try something. The day this arrived, I wanted to make sure it fit, so I put it on him. It is nice and soft, light weight but well made. He wasn't too keen at first, but then he let me get it on him. It went on super easy, and I made sure it was snug, but not too tight. I let him run around for a bit to see how he did with it on. He wasn't upset, didn't try and take it off or chew at it, so I figured he was going to be ok wearing it. I left it on him for about an hour and then took it off. I knew we were expecting storms later that night, so I took it to bed with us. Sure, enough around 5:30 am I wake up to thunder, and Bentley smashed up against me, shaking like a leaf, panting and just a very unhappy little guy. I grabbed the shirt and got it on him as quickly as I could in the dark. No problem by the way. And instantly he calmed right down. He stopped shaking, stopped panting, and laid down and went to sleep. I couldn't believe it. He slept peacefully the rest of the night, and didn't want me to take it off in the morning. This is the most amazing shirt, and I TOTALLY recommend for any fur baby that is scared of storms. I would give it 10 stars if I could.

I live on the southeast coast of the US, and we had a storm recently that brought rumbling thunder with it for a full week. Thank goodness I had just previously bitten the bullet to buy a thunder shirt for our spotted mutt, Moon. Moon shakes, shivers, and tries to get under the bed when it thunders. It makes me feel so sorry to helplessly witness her adrenaline-pumped fear. The shirt is a simpler affair than I imagined it would be--just a quite simple, slightly stretchy t-shirt-like material with a velcro fasten, but after practicing wrapping her up like a snug burrito a few times, I got the knack and it's a piece of cake. At first, she just stands there as if frozen in place, but after a minute or two she realizes that yes, she is fully free to move, sit, stretch out & lay down and it really does make her more mellow and content. Only wish I'd purchased one of these sooner.

My mother's dog has developed a serious fear of thunderstorms. She's never liked loud noises but now that she is 12, for some reason thunderstorms terrify her. Mom and I were talking about this new thing with her dog recently and it's bad enough that if the storm happens at night, Mom has to sit up with the dog and comfort her. The vet recommended my parents get a Thunder shirt for the dog to try and soothe her during the storms. I saw this calming wrap on here and decided to order it first to see if it works for their dog. The size is accurate to the measurements. Mom measured her dog and told me what to get and that's exactly what I bought. It is easy to get on and off and her dog seems to be comfortable in it. She's not rubbing against the floor or the furniture when wearing the shirt. It stays secure with velcro. The construction is nice, they did use high quality materials when they made this. I talk to Mom almost every day and after the first storm rolled in, I asked her how well this shirt worked. She said it helped. There have been a few thunderstorms since and from what I am being told, the dog is getting better with the anxiety (howling, panting, pacing, trying to get under furniture) behavior each time. It's a nightmare for my mother that is slowly but surely getting better with the use of this shirt. It's not an instant fix, at least with my mother's dog it wasn't, but our experience with their older dog is that it does help and the anxiety decreases each time she wears this wrap shirt during a thunderstorm.

I think i should of bought the actual name brand. Don't feel this worked for my dog.
