It is thick and sturdy and has a double lip that locks into the counter to prevent any movement when kneading dough. There is lasering of commonly used pie diameters if you are into making pies. I make bread so I just use the reversible side to knead my bread dough. Even when kneading out cold dough, the board remains stiff on my countertop. Can even double up as a cutting board. It is definitely worth every penny. ### ⭐ Soft wood, cheaply made, splinters and wood putty everywhere *by D***Y on December 10, 2017* DO NOT BUY THIS. It is made from a soft, cheap wood. Splinters and wood putty everywhere that can't be cleaned off.When I unpackaged the item, it looked great and I wanted to get to using it quickly.I rinsed the product off to remove factory dust and get it ready for food prep. I used a mild soap -- Dial hand soap -- diluted and sudsy in warm (not hot) water, with a standard dish sponge. As a rubbed off the factory dirt, splinters kept rubbing off as well. I inspected the wood, and realized how soft it is. Along the entire length of the board, fine, small splintering was occurring with contact. It was especially bad where the teeth of each plank met -- they completely began to disintegrate into more splinters.But the worst part? The wood planks linked together to form the board are held together w/ wood glue and wood putty! one of the planks was irregular shape, and it looks like they filled in the divots w/ a cheap wood putty. When that putty got wet, it dissolved and rubbed off into a sticky mess.This cannot be used for any contact w/ food -- especially dough that's being kneaded. Unless you want splinters, wood putty, and wood glue mixed into your breads and pastries, DO NOT BUY. ### ⭐⭐ Too many end and edge joints, and each and every one is slowly degrading, the more use the faster the degradation. *by B***Y on January 2, 2018* Warped almost immediately. The large number of joints is problematic, a bunch of small boards are glued to make this large board. Each and every end joint and edge joint is ever so slowly degrading. The factory sanding to smooth and level the board was done improperly. I had to order twice to get one that wasn't broken. Buy the amish made one that doesn't have so many exposed edge and end joints. This one is really poorly designed and executed in production, which obviously was as low cost as possible, this board will not last. I have similarly made counter tops of oak from ik-ea, and it's much higher quality in the joints than this board. Best advice I can give is look elsewhere as fast as possible. The most troubling of all is what is getting in my dough from all those degrading edges.
