High quality
Now this is an excellent iron. It took me a bit to get over the high price tag, but is certainly worth every penny. I use it almost daily for piece work for quilting. It only steams when your hand is on the handle. Comes to temperature quickly and shuts off automatically.

PRETTY PERFECT--MAYBE NOT FOR EVERYONE
I love this iron. I've been hunting for ages for the perfect iron for my sewing and crafting needs. I think I've found it. This iron Is powerful, produces masses of steam when needed (or less--or none--if needed). It heats up quickly and presses EXTREMELY well and gets every last wrinkle out--not least because it's a very heavy iron. This iron is for people who really want a solidly made workhouse and are willing to deal with the extra weight that comes along with that. I would not call the controls intuitive--it takes a bit of practice to get used to them, but once you do, the iron's versatility is amazing. The design is kinda brilliant, between a handle that senses when you pick it up to a high tech vapor generator that really puts the steam where you want it without a single drip. But be aware--in addition to the weight of this thing, there's also the cost of distilled water to think about (since the manufacturer recommends distilled to prolong the life of the iron. Steaming as well as it does means refilling a couple of times in an an all-day sewing session. For me, though--and for any serious sewer or crafter--those factors are not deal breakers, given what a quality tool this is. Thumbs way up.

I love love love this iron ♥ BUT IT DIED AFTER 10 MONTHS
EDIT: I absolutely loved this iron. It did exactly what I Need but now after 10 months, it is dead. It will not heat up. I'm very sad that they can't make better quality products.. ---------------------------------- I love love love this iron. I sew 8-10 hours a day. I want my iron on all day. You can turn off the shut-off timer which is the main reason I bought this iron. I've had several other brands and so far this one is worth the higher price. I hope it lasts me for the rest of my life. It has a little switch that lets you turn on the handle's steam switch. While the steam switch is on, when you grab the handle it shoots out high pressure steam. I turn the steam switch on and off all the time. Some times I want the the full steam. Sometimes I want the steam off because I'm working on something that requires me holding my fingers close to the iron. It's very easy to use. And nice and heavy, irons fabric beautifully. Filling the water reservoir is a bit awkward as you have to hold the iron at an angle, so it doesn't spill. But with the little water cup provided, it's a lot easier. The little trap door is a little hard to open but that's good because it doesn't leak when you use the iron. I will most definitely put up with this little awkwardness. It has heat setting 1-8. Hold the round switch to the right, it turns on. (Stop at the heat setting you want) Hold it to the left, it counts all the way down to zero and turns off.

Iron
This is a steam iron it uses a lot of water. Very easy to use and works very well. It is a little bit heavier than my other iron and a little more expensive than I normally pay for an iron but I have enjoyed using it . I bought it since I am doing a lot of sewing/quilting and needed a good iron that would last. I used someone else’s before I bought it and really liked it very easy to use

Best iron I've ever had!
I've been a dedicated top-of-the-line Rowenta iron user for many years. My husband found this iron and I decided to try it. I love it! It is heavy and is different in the way you turn it on and adjust the temperature. It also has a different type of sole plate, but I haven't found anything that I dislike about it. I have a love/hate relationship with the weight of the iron. It irons beautifully and takes less effort than the Rowenta, but I have arthritis in my hands that can affect my grip. I'm super careful and have no regrets about purchasing it.

Excellent choice for sewing
This iron heats fast. It's heavy and very steamy, and it has an override for the auto-turnoff. An excellent iron for pressing all types of fabric.

Love Reliable irons for quilting. A bit loud
I bought this iron as an upgrade to my old trusty 200IR. The older iron was showing some age but works fine, no issues at all. This 270IR is as hot as I expected (I believe it is the hottest, especially with the steam power, than the other competitors). The steam is powered by pressure and since it has more kick than my old one, this is the source of the 'noisiness'. I really like the sensor/timer for safety and energy savings. It glides smoothly and really knocks down the wrinkles. I am a steam quilter so this iron meets the mark with flattening seams and working through stubborn wrinkles. Negatives: Very hard to open the water tank, they need to add a lip to the side of the lid to be able to get a better grip rather than rely on having to pry it open by squeezing the tip of your fingers into the crevasse to push it open. The second negative is the power dial – it has no texture and is not easy to dial up/down every time you turn it on (the iron has a default setting of “4”, so you have to dial it up or down from there). The sides of this dial are smooth and it is slightly small, there is some effort required to move the dial and overall not a well thought out design – the dial and the water tank opening. The cord is nice and long. I appreciate the power of this newer iron and if it indicates anything, I have not gone back to the old one despite not being excited to have to refill the water tank and turn up the heat. Recommend! Be prepared for some noise and power in the palm of your hands (it's that pressure building - "vapor generator").

Fantastic clothes iron.
World's greatest iron. Really tight temperature control for ironing synthetic fabrics. You can override the auto shut off. Good steam. I purchased this after my old steam iron with the bi metallic temperature control burned a hole in the nylon pants I was sewing. With this iron you don't have to worry about temperature drift. Comes right up to temperature and stays there.

Very good iron, best steam system I’ve seen so far. It’s on the heavy side, but you get used to it. Doesn’t glide as smoothly as TFal’s, but in the end, it works well. What I like most is the ability to iron at lower temperatures but still having plenty of steam, reducing chances of leaving shiny traces. Good purchase.

Has a good weight to it and gives a really good amount of steam. Only downside is the water reservoir needs to be filled frequently but I keep a water bottle handy.

Update april 2024 look at the quality now, this is one of reliable worst iron ever made. Very disappointed with this product. Purchased during the holidays, and this iron is not cheap. I had a previous one IR200 which was great until it died on me after almost years of everyday ironing for around an hour each and every day, it just died on me at the end, so I decided to purchase the exact same one to realize they have upgraded the iron to this one. Pros it has the same great power it never let me down. Cans when it goes into sleep mode it keeps ticking when the previous one was complete silence and the iron decides to self-clean when ironing which spills all descaling from the inside out it is yellowish so my white shirt that I was ironing now needs another wash. If I had the chance to return I would have. I am updating with photos. Reliable reached out to me but did not belive this is happening so here are the photos.
