What do we do about the round disk that goes under this part?

No, I used the screw I already have in my Roomba.

Can the corner sweeping brushes be used for replacement edge sweeping brushes?

From what I can see, the edge-sweeping brush and corner edge-sweeping brush do the same function and are designed similarly, but they are made for different versions of the Roomba. The corner edge sweeping brush goes on the the Roomba with the front square corners; the edge-sweeping brush goes on a round Roomba.
