The 9-pin to 4-pin FireWire 800 - FireWire cable (also known as a "bilingual" cable) will connect a 4-pin FireWire (1394a) device to a 9-pin FireWire 800 (1394b) port on a computer (FireWire 800 devices can achieve FireWire 800 speeds only when connected to a FireWire 800 port). Review: Easy, Exactly what it promises to do, it DOES. Sturdy, heavy materials and metals. - YES it's a winner winner chicken (or vegetarian if you like) dinner! seriously it is awesome. I upgraded to THIS CABLE from the other PIN-out firewire type cabling, which is/was a Six PIN fireWire 400 *four hundred* format of cable. The 400 essentially worked and did the job super well, but MANY DROPPED FRAMES from the source device, an old camcorder. HDV and DV built by Canon.. .. .. . . .. . Now attaching THIS Firewire 800 to my internal card (also available cheaply easily on desertcart) away I went, faster, much more synchronized and 'sympatico/sympathetic' to my Studio Software, my Vid Editors, all of the interactions are better and smoother ---------- MOST IMPORTANTLY ---- With this I had zero dropped frames! Literally I watched some of the count and the final count in the software and this lost ZERO frames, after grabbing (no term decided by the industry) all the footage from HDV camcorder. NO loss! This works well with Windows Live Movie Maker (old school classic software, so good!) and Pro' stuff..... No regrets, it IS a little chunky. That said, the high quality is what makes it a little chunkier. It such a firm connection to the internal board, which I WANT, you must nudge and nurture it to the connection, then yer fine. I'm saying, it is precise to the MilliMeter and this is my first firewire cabling, is that normal? Probably. It all works and has not damaged anything. Best cable from dozens I own, even HDMI pooorer.
Review: Great cable for sony 8mm TRV350 to iMac - I bought a used TRV350 sony 8 mm video camera April of 18 , doing the conversion of 8mm tape to digital . first to an old apple G4 powerbook with firewire 400 cable which worked well but filled the drive . All the 1394b means is the video camera can be controlled from the keyboard . Stop play ff rewind , and works well . If you have the older 8 mm the video is a bit better the a kennedy video , still nice memories . I first tried the cable on my 09 iMac which seemed not to fit firewire 800 but one review listed as the same camera and computer I had . So figured I would just eat the mistake order or wrong shipment . A week went by and gave it another try ,the fire wire 800 end looks like two male ends . So I aligned the two 800 plugs and with more pressure than normal it just slid in . More pressure on the camera digital video plug ,,,,, Zingo it all works . With the iMovie it runs great , run the whole tape or stop and start as you like . Have a big hard drive , as 350 mb was 1:43 seconds of video time . Great fun I would recommend the camera and iMac combo for 8 mm sony work . Recommend it to all

**Q: I have a Toshiba Satellite L655, will this cable work for my laptop?**
A: No, this cable was used for a video camera to a thunder bolt to a Mac.

**Q: I have a dead macbook pro from 2010...will this cable work to transfer files to a new macbook pro?**

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome cable, excellent price
*by P***H on April 8, 2011*

Hola Had to buy one of these little guys to hook up my oldschool Panasonic pv-gs80 camcorder to my iMac. I visited 2 local stores trying to find a cable that would allow me to go mini firewire to firewire 800 (my iMac only has an 800 port on the back.... how...handy........... ) and each cable was around $20-$40 in price. Ridiculous! Thought, what the heck, this cord is only a couple bucks (plus shipping of course) and I took a chance on it. Fantastic little cord - iMac has no issues seeing my little camcorder, the cord hasn't been flukey at all with me capturing loads of footage, and the connector's both seem very secure and don't jiggle loose from my iMac or my little camcorder. Smarter...not harder... If you're in need of one of these little cords - I highly recommend this. You'll save oodles of cash and not sacrifice any quality. Stop paying for brand markup on cables :)
