Reliable Workhorses for Archiving and BackupsโThey Work Exactly as Advertised!
In an era where everything's streaming or cloud-stored, I've found myself reaching for physical media more than ever for irreplaceable backupsโlike family videos, scanned documents, and bootable software ISOs that I don't trust to the ether. That's why I grabbed this 50-disc spindle of Verbatim DVD+R blanks, and let me tell you, they work as advertised: consistent, hassle-free performance that gets the job done without the drama of coasters piling up next to my burner. As someone who burns dozens of discs a year for work and personal projects, these have become my go-to for their no-nonsense reliability and that signature AZO dye technology that promises longevity. What stands out right away is the build quality and ease of use. The silver-topped discs arrive neatly stacked on a sturdy plastic spindle that keeps them scratch-free during storageโI've knocked the whole thing over twice (oops), and not a single one got marred. Pop one into my external USB DVD writer, fire up ImgBurn or Nero, and they're writing at full 16x speed without a hitch, holding a solid 4.7GB each. I've filled up half the pack already: archiving wedding footage from my old camcorder, creating data discs for client handoffs, and even some music compilations for road trips. Readback is flawless on everything from my aging Dell laptop to the home theater Blu-ray playerโno errors, no dropouts, and the AZO dye ensures they hold up over time (I've got discs from a couple years back that still play like new). Verbatim's reputation for using superior, patented organic dye means less degradation compared to those bargain-bin brands that fade after a few years or fail mid-burn.Versatility is another plusโthese play nice with both Mac and Windows setups, and they've handled everything from video TS folders to simple MP3 rips without compatibility quirks. The 50-count spindle is a sweet spot for bulk buying: enough to tackle a big project without overwhelming my desk space, and at this price per disc, it's cheaper than printing labels or outsourcing to a service. If you're dipping into disc duplication for the first time, they're forgiving tooโno special surface prep needed, and the printable side (if you upgrade to the right variant) takes inkjet labels beautifully for that professional touch. That said, I'm holding off on a full five stars because, in my experience, they're not quite as robust for heavy re-writes or if you're pushing exotic formats (like some obscure video codecs that demand perfection)โone disc out of 50 had a minor read stutter on an older player, though it burned and played fine elsewhere. It's a nitpick, really, and nothing a quick verify pass in software couldn't catch. Compared to Taiyo Yuden greens (RIP) or even Memorex, these Verbatims strike the best balance of availability, performance, and peace of mind.Bottom line: If you need dependable DVD+R discs that work as advertised for archiving, sharing, or just hoarding data against digital doomsday, this spindle is a smart investment. They've saved me headaches and time, and I'll be grabbing another pack soon. Solid choice for anyone still waving the flag for optical media!

GREAT QUALITY, GREAT PRICE
These recordable DVDs are tops. The price on Amazon is almost 1/2 of that of my local stores.

Verbatim Was Sold - Falcon Premium Are Better
Update Nov 2019: Verbatim was recently sold. In the last two years, I, like others have reported, have run into quality issues as they wound down there business model. They are still better than most of the major brands but not what they used to be. These days, I use and recommend Falcon Premium dvd-r. Not the Pro, not the Dupliline, not the Basic. Make sure to get the Premium line. I have had amazing results with the Falcon brand discs. They are a little more money but well worth it. Falcon is probably the last company making high quality optical discs out there. They are as good as the old Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden discs. Old Review: These are the best dvd+r's out there. Top notch quality still. The accuracy, reflectivity, compatibility and longevity of these discs can not be beat. Over the years I have only ever had a few bad discs. These days, they all seem to be made at the Taiwan facility which is the highest quality optical media factory in the world at this point. I have not had a coaster in years now. I have many of these discs that are 11 to 14 years old and they have very little to no degradation. All play fine. All scan either the same as they did when they were made or with a very very slight increase in very correctable errors. In fact, they scan better than most other manufacturers discs when brand new and I expect them to last decades more. Just make sure to store them indoors, away from light and not near a heat or ac vent. Don't worry about paying the high prices of M-Discs and gold discs (both of which have compatibility issues), these discs last. Make sure that your dvd drive is not wearing out. I have found the biggest problem over the years is in using a burner for too long. I have made the mistake in thinking that I had bad discs when it was really my drive getting old and not burning correctly. DVD drives' lasers weaken over time and I have found that to be as large an issue in producing quality discs as disc quality. I have always found DVD+R better than -R although there are some that claim that there is no difference. +R does have more error correction and in my experience have less problems. Also, buy these branded ones, not the 8x Datalife Plus ones. Those are made in China at a lesser facility and Verbatim has a history of making much better 16x media than 8x. The only other discs that compared to these were the Taiyo Yuden discs that were made in Japan. Now that they have closed that facility, Verbatim has no competition.

Always reliable high quality discs
Verbatim is the brand I always rely on for all my recordable discs. Years ago I tried other brands when on sale like Memorex, HP and Sony and always ended up with many coasters. I also have done my research and on the top of every list of the most reliable recordable discs there is Verbatim. It is stressed that it must be the Verbatim discs manufactured in Japan and that is indeed what you get here. With this recent 50 dvd disc spindle I have already used half of the discs and have not had a single error disc. And this has always been my experience with Verbatim. It's great that Amazon has them here at such a great price but even if they were more expensive Verbatim is the only brand I will now use. I honestly believe if people are having continuous problems with these discs that it is likely the problem is with the software you are using to burn your discs rather than with Verbatim. This high recommendation I am giving is not only due to my experience with this recent 50 disc spindle but looking at my history with Verbatim over the years. Always reliable and never a problem. Also everything they promise in their detailed item description is true. These discs burn at a very high speed and get done quickly which definitely helps make volume disc burning go by much faster. And the quality of the video on the discs is always excellent. When making a copy of a disc I can hardly tell it is a copy. The transfer looks almost exctly like the original and not a second generation copy. I went into such detail here for there are so many brands out there and such varying prices and promised guarantees by companies that with my long history with Verbatim and my success with all their recordable discs I hope my experience can help others. Highly recommend.

Nothing wrong with India made Verbatims! It's a myth!
All these reviewers whining about MADE IN INDIA have no idea what they're talking about. They record and scan just as good as Singapore, UAE and Taiwan discs! Just received my 100-pack cake box and they are indeed MCC 004 (the best dye available for longevity, performance and consistency) Tiyo Yuden discs are just as good, but more expensive. Anyway, always purchase the Verbatim with AZO, NOT the life or value series with inferior CMC dye. These MADE IN INDIA Verbatims always scan out in Nero Cd Speed at 95% or higher! Super low PI errors and NO COASTERS! But I am using a good DVD Burner, the Benq 1650 with BCIC firmware. Make sure you burn at 8x for best results, not 16 or higher! Anyone that is still on the fence about ordering these just because they are "MADE IN INDIA" needs to read this: Mitsubishi (or rather Verbatim) has stated and re-stated several times that all MCC and MKM media is created with Mitsubishi equipment and materials, and Mitsubishi staff on-site to oversee production. While MCC has rented or otherwise made financial arrangements to use space (and likely personnel and non-essential equipment) in the facility of another manufacturer -- be it Moser Baer (MBI), Prodisc, CMC Magnetic (CMC) or Falcon Technologies (FTI -- the MCC media is still an MCC owned, created and controlled product. MCC is the manufacturer. Verbatim (an extension of Mitsubishi) is a very large worldwide brand, and they need a LOT of media for their worldwide markets. As such, one puny plant will simply not suffice. Therefore they have forged relationships with other companies. It was well-known back around 2004-2005 that MCC was taking companies like Prodisc, MBI and CMC "under their wing" to get them "up to speed" on how to function as a quality facility that meets the expectations of Mitsubishi (and their worldwide customers, of course). For a while there, we actually saw MBI and Prodisc media that was every bit as good as MCC discs! CMC was better, too, although still not up to MCC quality. Those were the 4x days of DVD-R. Based on the amount of care, time and financial effort that MCC put into those secondary non-MCC-owned locations, it would be silly for one facility to simply be allowed to create crap. Verbatim has a reputation that it very much wants (or at least wanted pre-2010*) to protect. The materials, processes and oversight used in India is not any different from what goes on at the locations in Taiwan. This has been not only implied by MKM and Verbatim USA, but explicitly stated by Verbatim Europe. Based on my observations in the past 5 or so years, the anti-India ramblings you find in user forums are due to secondary factors, be it drive-related or simply psychological. There's this idea that India is inferior to American goods -- or goods from countries accepted by Americans, such as Taiwan -- when it's not at all true. India has its issues, yes, just like anywhere else. But it also has a thriving technology (IT), medical and customer service market. There's nothing innately inferior about Indian products. And then most Indian media was first seen with the arrival of 16x DVD-R in the USA and Canada, and many of the subpar drives out there at the time (LG, especially!) worked poorly with MCC 16x media. Heck, those drives worked poorly with most media! Swapping to Taiwan discs made no difference. The few pieces of "proof" you find out there, on this topic of Taiwan being better than India, use PIF/PIE scanning methods that are simply too unreliable for this type of comparison. It's scientificesque methodology being implored by those individuals -- meaning that it resembles science, but it's not science. More often, you get an incomplete and biased snapshot of what truly went on, with details such as drive changing, burn speed or other environmental factors being omitted. It discredits and debunks that myth. Happy burning!
