I'm currently keeping a Nikon 600mm f4 VR lens attached to my Nikon D600 in this bag with the hood in the shooting position and it fits perfectly. *** I did purchase the L127 lid directly from Kinesis to have extra room for my lens and camera combination. I called Kinesis directly since the L622 case was shipped directly from them and they didn't charge me any additional shipping on the L127 lid. The bag is well padded, has plenty of straps and buckles to add other Kinesis bags to it. It's very sturdy and I purchased the backpack straps for it but not sure how much I'll be using it as a backpack but I have that option. It's great being able to pull my camera/lens combination out of the case and mount it to my tripod without having to worry about switching the hood around.
