where do i buy the battery holder for a ultra fire?

The battery slides inside the flashlight after unscrewing the cap on the end.

If this flashlight works well on an aa battery wouldn't a 14500 battery with 3 times the voltage of a aa battery immediately destroy the flashlight?

I have used many of these over the years and always use AA batteries, which are significantly less expensive and always available. I keep a spare battery near the flashlight or in my backpack when I travel. But the batteries last a long time. The only issue I have had is an occasional battery leak using cheaper AA batteries (R-----OV---C). If the battery leaks inside the flashlight, it usually destroys the flashlight. Since the flashlights are inexpensive it is not a big deal expect for reliability. Now I use E----R or D----L batteries. If I am storing the flashlight for long periods, like backup lights for power failures or attic jumps, I take the battery out and store it next to the flashlight. I leave the cap loose but on the flashlight to make installation faster and remind me to insert a battery. I have compared the light beam on these flashlights to expensive tactical flashlights costing 10x as much and these are just as bright and use a single AA battery. I flashed the beam about 1/2 mile over a lake and could see it on the far shoreline. Suggest staying away from AAA batteries that are more expensive and don't last) or the fancy 14500 batteries. Don't waste your money. I have dropped these flashlights in water and mud crawling under trailers and they keep working. Give them out as gifts at Christmas and everybody loves them.

Cannot find 3.7v 14500 batteries? Other (non-3.7v) kinds that come up and regular AA are not as bright, any recommendations?

Ultrafire sells there own 14500 Li-ion rechargeable battery. All you have to do is buy the battery and intelligent charger. I use the Nitecore D2 and EBL brand 14500 batteries. I use the ultrafire SK68 led flashlights, and I have recharged the batteries about 6 times. All flashlights and batteries work well together. It costs a little more to get set up, but rechargeable 3.7 Li-ion batteries are the way to go.
