Gave up the hunt
I was very disappointed in this book and returned it. Unlike the movie, the heffalumps were not befriended. Rather, Pooh indulged in his honey and "protected" Piglet from pursuing the chase because it was too scary. The pages of the shadowy heffalumps were actually printed darkly. The message is a poor one-give up the hunt because it is too frightening. The Heffalump movie is far superior. In the movie, Too is brave, finds an adorable Heffalump friend, "Lumpy" and enlists his mother to rescue Lumpy when he hets trapped in Rabbit's cage. Roo then teaches the Pooh community that Heffalumps are to be enjoyed and appreciated rather than feared. The movie is wonderful!

As a 30 something old who loved Winnie the Pooh, I loved reading this to my toddler and newborn twins. It’s a lovely read, a lovely poem and great meaning behind the story.
