## Overview

The Orion 1.25" 13% Transmission Moon Filter is a precision metal-threaded accessory designed to reduce lunar glare by allowing only 13% of incoming light through. It fits standard 1.25" telescope eyepieces and preserves the Moon’s natural color, enhancing contrast and detail visibility for a comfortable, high-definition lunar viewing experience favored by both beginners and seasoned astronomers.

## Description

Product description The Moon's disk, even at partial phases, is intensely bright with reflected sunlight. The glare washes out most of the craters, rilles, and other surface details from view. Our 1.25" Orion 13% Transmission Moon Filter reduces the glare, allowing transmission of only 13% of the reflected light. Not only will you see more surface features, but you can study them in greater comfort. The filter reduces irradiation, which is the distortion at the boundary between light and dark areas, such as along the lunar terminator. The Orion Moon Filter is especially useful to owners of large-aperture scopes, in which the Moon's brightness can be overwhelming. It uniformly reduces light over the entire visible spectrum. Filter screws into threaded eyepiece barrel for secure attachment.

Review: Do I really need this? YES! - An absolutely essential accessory for viewing the moon - even for beginners. I had been a (very) casual stargazer for years and never used any filter, but I decided to give this a shot when I upgraded telescopes recently. I had assumed it would just make the image fuzzier - but I was very wrong. Image clarity remains excellent, but it saves your eyes from the glare and allows you to observe far more detail. Really great product. I switched eyepieces and tried to observe the moon without the filter, but I couldn’t do it. It was far too bright for comfortable viewing. Great quality - it threaded into my eyepieces smoothly and with no problem. Feels well-made. Delivered quickly too. If you’re wondering whether or not you really need this product — you do. Might even be worth getting a couple of these to avoid the minor hassle of switching between commonly used eyepieces.
Review: Amazing filter - This does what it's supposed to: reduce the amount of light you get from observing the moon, and let me tell you it does work great. Not only makes it easier for the eye to observe the moon when most of its surface is illuminated, but also keeps the natural color of the image so the moon will remain white but just less bright. It also fits my eyepices perfectly. I would totally recommend this to anyone who wants observe the moon with a telescope, it's just more enjoyable for the eye than doing it without the filter.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Used it 1st night I got it.

I'm an old school visual telescope user. I don't take fancy CCD images, I just like to point the scope at my favorites and let the photons actually hit my eyes. Sorta left the hobby for a while but recently dusted off my old 90mm refractor. Lost my lunar filter so I bought this one. The evening it arrived we had a prefect waxing gibbous. Thrilling results! Tamps down the light just enough while not affecting the colors. I also own some Orion 10x50 binoculars. They make good stuff.
