I am taking this product because it is supposed to help drop your A1C... Mine floats around 6 which is a problem. In the last year or so, I haven't eaten a lot of extra sugar ... I have had a high protein diet.... But still high A1C. Berberine was recommended by Dr. Mixon, a local radio-doctor who has a clinic with an excellent reputation.... He says his patients take this to control their A1C and have A1C's around 5.2 .... Berberine is very unpleasant to take as a powder.... So these capsules take the pain out of twice-a-day doses of Berberine. Exercise can also help control A1C... This product is sold to us at an extremely good price .... Penny per milligram, this is the lowest I could find... I found powders at a good price... But this price is better AND it is in capsules. Remember, Berberine is very unpleasant to take as a powder. So.... Berberine helps a lot of people to control their A1C.... I have a high A1C... And from what I can see, this product is the best value out there. Oct 31, 2020 Follow Up: After about 3 months of taking Berberine, my A1C dropped from 6 to 5.8. I continue to take Berberine for this reason... I haven't had my A1c checked lately.... I will try to update this after my next blood work. AND.... I have also read that Berberine and Metformin work excellently together.... for Blood Sugar Control and also for Anti Cancer Benefits. My doctor originally prescribed Metformin for me to deal with Pre Diabetes... then I started taking Berberine in stead of the Metformin.... then I learned that the two work very well together.... and I discussed this with my doctor and now I take both. NOTE: Another one of my doctors, a Naturopath who is also an MD, told me that she had not seen Berberine help with lowering A1c and she speculated something else had caused the A1c reduction ... but she encouraged me to keep taking the Berberine for its anti-cancer benefits... since I have had prostate cancer and I am dealing with it becoming bioactive again.... Berberine can help prevent the spread of cancer and also reduce tumor size. A simple Google Search will corroborate these assertions.

This review is 10 years late. I purchased these in 2017 and took them and had all kinds of stomach issues so I stopped taking them and sat them on my desk. I’ve taken multiple types of so called Berberine pills from other brands and have been disappointed and seen no results. In fact I’m currently taking a liquid version thinking that liquid would be better quality…it hasn’t done anything my glucose has still been high. Fast forward to a video on YouTube about Berberine and the yellow root and how it can help with glucose management and then I remembered that these Swanson Berberine pills are actually the only ones that were bright yellow. So I started taking my Swanson Berberine that expired in 2025. And what do you know little by little my glucose has been getting under control, yes I cleaned up my eating slightly but not really that much. I just ordered another bottle and compared the labels and ingredients and they match (old bottle to new bottle). When I started again I had the same stomach issues, similar to when taking metformin but that seems to have subsided .
