During the crossing from the east, all the men died, leaving 11 women and children to complete this amazingly hard journey. Their settling in California and Oregon, again showed the hardship of living in that time during the gold rush and the mistreatment of Chinese and Indians. These books hold so many treasured lessons of life and show such growth and character development in the lives and friendships of these women. My life was deeply touched by their life stores, through their thoughts and actions, mistakes and successes. The author truly holds a gift for weaving God’s direction into the story and giving such valuable take always that can apply to most any life. My life was affected and changed...given more direction to hold onto what is valuable in our journey through a meaningful life.
