I like walking my dog with a very short leash. I have accidentally dropped his leash a couple of times when tripping on the side walk or a hole in the grass at the park. Even though he is very well trained, when this happens, he thinks he has "escaped" or playing a game and goes running and playing ignoring any commands. If he were a Golden, that would be fine; being a dobe, not so much. I love this leash because it is so light weight. It is very easy to carry with the other leash. Now, I can drop the short leash when I know no one is around and let him have a little more freedom. Since he is used to walking on a short leash, he never pulls this leash. I love that it has a short handle as well as the one on the end.
