Excellent punch - easy to use, quality tool
Great deal for a multi-tip punch for most surfaces. Needed to drill gate posts for latches and this punch (used properly) gets your drill bit centered on each hole, without it your latches are cricked and don't line up. Not as big a problem for wood, but still helpful there as well. Also needed to drill my transmission fluid pan to add a drain plug - this punch was key for that project as well. Highly recommended.

Fix for Failure to Trigger
After a few weeks of light use, this punch failed to trigger more than 50% of the time. However, after I disassembled it and lubricated the internal parts, the punch triggered consistently. I deducted one star because it could have been lubricated at the factory.

Good for price
Great. Ive used it on drywall and wood, works great. I just keep it in my drill case. Sometimes the spring doesnt work, but just requires retightening. Good quality for price

Not positive punch
I wasn't too impressed with this tool. No matter how I fiddled with the adjustment, it seemed to 'miss' a lot of times. Meaning I'd push down on it, and instead of a nice positive punch, it would just slide down with punching. Sometimes I'd have to push it 3 or 4 times before it would 'catch' and make the punch. Get what you pay for I guess...

As good as some of the more premium contendors
This is a really good value, quality made, automatic center punch. I've used it for steel, aluminum, and plastic and it precisely punches a decent sized dimple without very much effort. A nicely knurled body to help aim the punch and a rounded ball is pressed to 'fire' it. I have come to like the ball handle as it lets you angle the punch slightly and still maintain a comfortable grip. I prefer this punch over some of the way more expensive precision punches since it puts out a little more wallop and does everything else that's expected of it just fine. Comes with a spare punch tip too. They all wear out after a good while so that was a nice touch. A+

Very Comfortable to Use
I already had the more traditional automatic center punch with an all metal handle but the force required to actuate the hammer was uncomfortable. The large plastic knob on the end of this punch works great and put an end to that discomfort. Overall quality is good and I have had no issues with its function after using it for a while on plastic, wood and aluminum.

Didn't work at all without extensive refurbishment, horrible internal surface and thread quality!
This punch didn't work until I refurbished it. It's construction is of very low quality, with threading that looks like it was gouged out with a knife, extremely rough internal walls of the upper section where the hammer piston thing has to slide, and very gritty inside. It didn't work at all when I got it because in the lower section, the internal pin has to slide through a cone shaped section to reach the hammer in the upper part, in order to push the hammer up against the upper spring. That cone section was very rough, and had too shallow of an angle. So the flat, sharp edged top of the pin wouldn't slide through, instead catching on the cone and cutting into it. This created a ledge, amplifying the problem. Hopeless, without re-machining. So I ground out the cone to make it fairly smooth as well as giving it a steeper angle. I improved the flatness of the top of the pin with SiC sandpaper (320, 400, & 600 grits, sanded on a solid 123 block), while also placing a very slight break on the edge so it could no longer cut into cone, yet not be tempted to prematurely let go of its grip on the hammer when compressing the spring. It was working at this point, but pushing down had a horribly rough feeling. Further sanding and coarse steel wool wads twisted through the barrel of both sections smoothed the walls and cleaned out the dirt. Likewise for the threads--they were given a wire brush and steel wool clean up. Finally, everything was given a light coat of grease and the thing put back together. It now works, apparently reliably. It has the actuation feeling of "mediocre quality" rather than the original "garbage." Fixing this was a several hour long annoyance. For some reason I did all this, rather than sending it back, because I was curious to understand how it worked and to see if I could fix it. I have a punch shaped just like this made by (I'm not sure) at work that I bought around year 2000. It has clean, fine threads, and never failed despite getting no maintenance. It's too bad quality made stuff like that is nearly impossible to find these days.

Funktioniert einwandfrei

This center punch is easy to use and the motion is smooth. The pressure is adjustable by turning the handle. It comes with an extra point but since there is no room to store it in the handle, you could lose it before you need it. Very good product. I used it only once to remove a gear from a shaft. The hammer action did it for me.

Gave this 4 stars because ,4 out of 5 times i go to punch a drill point it dosent fire? Gets stuck, not a big deal , just irritating.... good quality metal, hardened well , punched maybe 70 pieces of metal so far , point is still sharp , for that 5star, maybe i need to read the operating manual again ? Might have missed a page on the proper steps to use such an advanced metal denting ...denting tool! Lol , good product. Works

My neighbor has one and we always use it and I always thought why does he have that I've got a little punch and a little hammer yeah okay so you get rid of carrying around two items for one small one and I thought I'm just going to order it cuz I got it on sale no lies this thing is the bomb it's so easy to use just pushing it clicks and here's your bit starter right there apparently if you need to break glass I don't know why unless you're an emergency services person or you come across an accident but it's unlikely you'll be carrying this unless you're weird like me. But it's kind of satisfying you just push it up against an object and you hear this click and next thing you know you look at the object and there is your start point for your drill. I know this thing will last me a lifetime that is for absolute sure comes with an extra tip that I was kind of cool.
