An unforgettable, achingly honest contemporary queer romance about what happens when you find your first love while you’re still discovering who you really are. “Earnest, wistful, romantic, and real.”—Casey McQuiston, New York Times bestselling author of Red, White & Royal Blue “A thoughtful exploration of coming out and safety, a necessary conversation for those within the queer community.”— Culturess Can they go the distance together? Morgan, an elite track athlete, is forced to transfer late in her senior year after it turns out being gay is against her private Catholic school’s code of conduct. Ruby loves nothing more than tinkering with her baby-blue 1970 Ford Torino, but most weekends she’s stuck living out the dreams of her mother, a former beauty queen, by competing in local pageants. Morgan and Ruby are drawn to each other, and when they’re together, Ruby begins to envision a future for herself she never thought possible. But while Morgan—out and proud, and determined to have a fresh start—doesn’t want to have to keep their budding relationship a secret, Ruby has never told anyone about the feelings she’s denied herself for so long. Review: best book - As a teenage lesbian who HATES reading I REALLY LOVE this book. It has so many relatable things in it and it makes me feel do seen. The author, Jennifer Dugan, has this way with her words that make everything make sense but also seem so confusing at the same time. And that’s what makes this such a good book, because it’s so refreshing to not have it black and white. This book has such a unique and amazing storyline, unlike most sapphic romance stories, it shows so many aspects of how being queer feels and impacts your life. I HIGHLY recommend this book for those reasons, please read it, and I hope you enjoy it like I di (Soooo sad it’s done, gonna miss reading it and finding out what happens next with Ruby and Morgan ) Review: cute queer teen romance novel - while this book may not be the peak of american literature, its a super fun book; easy to read, really developed characters, pretty good writing and of course an adorable romance. would definitely recommend

Cute f/f coming of age romance
This book was so fun to read from start to finish. I laughed out loud at times and even held my breath at times in anticipation. It was just really good! I especially loved Ruby's character. And unlike some other reviewers, I'm a sucker for a good insta-love story. I think the author's writing style flows nicely and that the length was just right for the story she wanted to tell. I would've like to see more of of what happened to Morgan's track friends, but it's so minor that it's not worth taking a star off for. Great read and I will be recommending it to others who enjoy YA and/or lesbian romance. Looking forward to reading other books by Jennifer Dugan.

I’m at a loss for words because that’s how much I loved this book
This book was absolutely charming and wonderful and when I finished it I literally hugged the book I was so happy. I don’t know that many other books have ever made me feel that way. But it was so overwhelmingly perfect for my gay little heart. I wish this book existed when I was a closeted teen in a situation similar to Ruby’s. The only thing that I struggled with is that in my brain I thought their names should be each others names, but that’s just a “my brain” thing and the author clearly chose those names for the girls on purpose. I wish there was a second book so I knew what happened next for them. But wow, I really loved this book. Best $10 (or whatever it was) that I spent on a random book that consumed me and I couldn’t escape or put it down. Now it’s time to pay the magic of this book forward and donate it to the Pride Center library at my university so someone else can enjoy it as much as I did 💕

interesting perspective
This kind of book is new to me and it is interesting to see a different kind of conflict. That was the intriguing part for me because it is not just ordinary but complex. It is something that heterosexuals like me will never really understand. As an open-minded person, I caught up to that life/romantic barrier and appreciated the change. While I have big pet peeves about love at first sight and fast-paced relationship. Those two never click right with me. Still, I think it is fun to read something like this while it isn’t necessarily a perfect book.

I really liked it
I liked it as a typical example of YA queer romance. It was neither too breezy nor too somber for me.

An Absolute Favorite ❤️
I've read this one more times than any other book! It holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first sapphic books I read when I started getting into reading, and the story just spoke to me. I could relate to both Ruby and Morgan (in my youth, of course, lol). Their struggles, their passions, their angst... it was familiar. Now Ruby and Morgan are obviously extremely different, but I love stories where they just couldn't deny the attraction. They had a lot going against them, and nothing was easy for them, but they were both tough and resilient. I truly enjoyed their journey.

Awesome read!
Bit of everything I’m a sucker for especially enemies to lovers! Loved that all their issues weren’t fixed with a kiss, there was still some work to be done individually.
