Are they thin enough to wear in closed toed shoes to prevent blisters forming without making the shoes too tight?

No, I put it on with my closed toe shoes and it was very tight, not only protector was keep falling off but it totally red then it felt like I was burning my pinky toe. I used it for one day at work only then I throw them out.

They are good if shoes are new or tight. As for bunions there are toe pads more cushioning. these work best on middle toes.
