Ring Plug-In Adaptor (2nd generation)

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Makes Life So Much Easier for Ring Doorbells I bought the Ring Plug-In Adaptor (2nd Gen) because I was tired of constantly recharging my doorbell battery, and it’s been a brilliant upgrade. Installation was straightforward—just connect the wires to the doorbell and plug it in. No electrical work, no fuss. Once set up, the doorbell stays powered continuously, and I haven’t had to touch the battery since. The connection has been stable, and the doorbell responds faster than it did when running on battery alone. The cable length is generous enough to route neatly around the doorway, and the adaptor itself feels well-built and safe. It also runs quietly with no buzzing or warmth, which was something I checked for. If you’re using a Ring doorbell and want a simple, reliable way to keep it powered without dealing with battery swaps, this adaptor is definitely worth it.

When I received my Ring Doorbell (Gen 2) as a present, I knew I wanted it hardwired as my memory isn't great and I would forget to charge the internal battery, although they are meant to last for a good number of months - depending on your settings. Also, I did not want to keep removing the security screws and risk loosing them!! Finding the plug in adapter was more challenging that I thought it would be, mainly because I didn't have a clue what it was called. After finding many alternative suppliers who stated their product can be used with the Ring, I wanted the OE item, and after more searching I was able to locate and purchase it!! I would say, it would be great to have options for the cable length, but as long as you think of your cable route prior to any action, then you'll need good. Overall I found installation was a lot easy than I had thought initially - I think I spent longer thinking and planning the cable routing haha. Connecting the wire to the Ring terminal screws located at the back is so easy, taking no time at all. After I had it all connected and just requiring mounting and the security screws, I accessed the doorbell via the app to check it was working and showing hardwired - which it did!! Overall the complete installation took no more than 45 minutes. I would recommend this to anyone, so you don't need to charge or replace batteries. I now have my Ring doorbell (Gen 2) set to the highest/best settings that would normally drain your battery, but now I see a better picture quality on both day and night and I have no issues with the motion detection, it only picks up on the area I set and nothing else. A little bit of kit, that is definitely worth the money!

My doorbell was completely dead, so I had to give it a full charge before setup. Once powered, the installation was very straightforward. The plug-in adapter works exactly as described and the device shows as hardwired in the app’s Device Health section, which is great for keeping it topped up. Overall, easy to set up and does exactly what it’s supposed to.

Good, but could be improved by making the + & - wires different colours.

This unit unlike all the cheaper alternatives is silent and stays cold. After reading reviews on all the cheaper transformers about being so noisy that folk unplugged them, i decided that buying the original official Ring power supply unit was a ‘no brainer’ and the best, safest way to go. It has been specifically designed for use with their own ring doorbells and camera gear so obviously they are matched much better to their equipment than the cheaper generic versions. It is literally totally silent. It comes with 10 cable clips that match the wire thickness which are hard to find in hardware stores (20 would have been much better) , the screws that come with the clips are quite heavy duty and bulky and have a long size (1”) too long for fitting to skirting boards in my opinion so i replaced all the original clip bolts with small 1/2” self tapping screws that were far less visible to the eye (in photo), i predrilled tiny primer holes to avoid splitting the skirting board wood as i positioned all mine along the bottom edge of the skirting along the carpet line. The wiring of Doorbell cameras is simple as it does not matter which way round the cables are connected from the AC adapter, but apparently they do have to be strictly correct polarity for chimes and other Ring hardware (but not ring doorbells) , a ridge on one of the wires signifies a certain polarity for those scenarios but for my ring doorbell 4 camera it didnt matter so i just fitted then how i felt fit. Everything shows as ‘hardwired’ in the app and all is functioning absolutely perfectly. Love it! i would recommend this AC power supply to anyone using Ring products because it is silent and has the correct electrical rating for the matched Ring equipment. Its might cost £10 more a at £22 but its worth the extra for piece of mind and silence safe operating👍 5 stars im giving this as i cannot really find fault in anyway tbh
