Is there a magnet in these to help keep closed

No there isn't. I have seen ones that have it and although they are pretty cool, the magnet adds thickness to the wallet which defeats the minimalist side that i was looking for.

I have no need for the money clip and would like to remove it all together. How is the clip mounted in the wallet?

The money clip is somehow glued in sowed in where I have tried to take it out, but couldn't remove it. So its grown on me and once in a while I slap a $20 in there. But yes you can't remove it unless you destroy the wallet. By the way the wallet is great except for the money clip.

Does the money clip hold the money in a way that I have to pull the clip with force to take out the money??

I am able to pull out the money with out pulling up the clip. But I do not carry that much cash and you want it somewhat tight so it does not fall out.

How durable is the clip? Does it lose tension eventually?
