good quality...
Using whole split peas is rather inconvenient. They take forever to cook and removing skins takes an age. After finally giving up with whole split peas I bought these to see if skinned ones can be better. They are! She's used these split peas in a number of dishes and I made some nice peas pudding which was just as good, if not better, than the tinned peas pudding. The quality of the product is good and given the quantity alongside the price this product is good value so I am recommending it.

This Rani Chana Dal is incredibly clean and cooks up to the perfect tender texture for a hearty, traditional meal. It has a rich, nutty flavor that pairs beautifully with bold spices, making it a reliable staple for any authentic kitchen.

I loved these split chickpeas. This was the first time trying them, I usually order the whole ones but these were so much better for cooking in pressure cooker for quick meals. They came out very nice with great texture & taste. Being on a Mediterranean diet, I'll use these often. Highly recommended.

It's been a while I was looking for a taste of home. I'm glad they offer such quality chick peas. Delivery was quick and product is fresh. They delivered fast and their price is reasonable. Keep in mind this is NOT roasted Chana!

Finding these changed my world! I always resisted making my own hummus because of the work involved skinning the chickpeas. This makes the creamiest hummus ever!

Obviously buying this product from Amazon rather than buying kala chana from the Indian grocery store I usually shop at means it costs much more, but I knew that when I ordered it. One difference between this product and the Swad brand of kala cholla I usually buy is that the Rani brand is from India and Swad kala chana is from Australia. I did not know this until I read a review and looked at my Swad brand of kala chana, and I was surprised that it was from Australia because I had always assumed it was from India. Does country of origin make a difference to the quality and taste of the product? Both brands of kala chana cook in twenty minutes in my Instant Pot, after an overnight soak. I rinse the kala chana multiple times after an overnight soak to get rid of the smelly soaking water. Then I cook it. This way you can add your spices to the cooking pot which really adds flavor to the chana. After it’s cooked I reduce the water on the sauté setting in the Instant Pot stirring periodically to prevent burning. Now the taste: there is a subtle difference between the Rani kala chana and the Australian Swad kala chana. The Rani brand is smoother in taste and texture. The Swad brand is a little mealy. It has a roughness to it. You probably won’t notice it unless you are a kala chana expert, or do a side by side taste comparison like I did. Overall the Rani brand is a tastier product, and I bought it because my Indian grocery store is too far away for me to go to and buy my usual Swad brand. Would I buy the Rani brand again? I would if I didn’t want to drive 80 miles to my nearest Indian grocery store. However, if I were to drive that far to buy my groceries then I would just pick up the Swad brand, and wish it were the Rani brand instead. The Indian grocery store I usually go to does not carry this brand of kala chana.
