GoPro killer!
I owned the previous version of this camera (ONE R) and decided to upgrade after 2 years on heavy use. I am looking forward to taking this camera around the world with me for work and family vacations. I am an avid hiker and don't like to carry around tons of heavy film equipment which is why I bought this camera in the first place. I always wanted a 360 camera to test out but never could justify buying it until Insta360 came out with this model. Now I am essentially getting two cameras for the price of one. I absolutely love the modular design! The main reason I upgraded to the ONE RS is because it has built in stabilization so now I don't need to process the files through their app, which was kind of a headache before. I am also excited about the longer battery life which means I won't have to change batteries mid way through my hikes. I have been using the ONE RS for a few days now and the new mounting bracket is a HUGE upgrade. It makes swapping the lenses out super quick and easy. I'm excited to use it on my trip next month and test out all of the new features. Highly recommend this camera to anyone who is looking for an action camera. Insta360 is really giving GoPro a run for their money. Super hyped on this company!

ONE YEAR LATER UPDATE: Measures up as a GoPro Killer
I’VE UPDATED THIS REVIEW AFTER ONE YEAR OF USE. It’s incredible what this camera is capable of. There is a learning curve in unlocking its capabilities & it requires some readjusting on how you shoot, & how you edit what you shoot. The premise of composing a shot, so to fit it in the camera frame in the moment is gone. For the most part the camera catches EVERYTHING around it ALL THE TIME. Its afterward where you compose what you want to capture in the moment. Your editing becomes a two stage process… you compose the clips you want, done easily with the Insta360 free app, then to be really creative, export your clips into your favorite video editor… in my case I use a editing app called LumaFusion. The end result is a level of magnitude far higher than you can imagine, at least it has been for me. Over the year, I accessorized. I added batteries, the external audio port, & got the extended selfie stick to enable the capability of a jib crane or dolly shot to my footage. And I’ve recently purchased the waterproof dive case for getting extensive underwater footage. While the camera has limited immersion protection, I just can’t overcome my natural fear of getting the camera wet. Now that the model has had some time on store shelves, it’s wise to take advantage of price markdowns of some of the parts & pieces that make this camera even more capable. Outside of keeping the camera healthy, I see myself using this camera for a long, long time. My experiences with action cameras have been with inexpensive off-name brand knock-offs, which, while they do get the job done, they’ve always fallen short on performance. Pulling the trigger on buying this camera was at first a gamble for me, but the payoff was quickly realized literally right out of the box. It’s so easy to create stunning footage straight from the camera, but even more has come from using the Insta360 app’s effects templates which instantly produce results, as well as teach you tips & tricks on using the camera. There’s so much more that this camera offers than any other action camera for me. It’s well worth its cost. It’s not without a couple of nits however, it’s given heat warnings while shooting on a hot summer day, and not coming with a separate battery charger makes fiddling with a USB access cover a nagging chore. Both of these gripes are easily correctable. Beyond the beautiful imagery and awesome functionality, Insta360’s design path of modularity has made this camera a GoPro killer. You need two GoPros to equal this one, and don’t count on the camera to be yesterday’s news later on. You can count on more lenses, & upgraded firmware to extend its live & your investment. I’m glad I waited to buy big, with the arrival of this camera.

Great Camera!
Coming from GoPro cameras I was a little wary of trying the Insta 360 cameras. I shouldn't have been. The 4k boosted lens is great with vibrant colors and sharp images. The 360 lens is where this camera really shines. It is so cool to be able to reframe your footage using the app or on your pc after shooting. With my GoPro I was always missing shots because I wasn't aimed at the subject. Now I can decide exactly what I want to show. I love flying my drone with the 360 mod and One RS. I get great 360 footage. The modular design of the One RS is a great feature also. I can have a standard action camera and a 360 camera with me in a small form factor and at a significantly less cost than having 2 separate cameras. Can't wait for this summer so I can capture great shots while out exploring.

Very unreliable, buggy, and undeveloped camera
Starting off with, I ordered the product from Amazon on Prime days for a great discount. Shipped by Amazon Prime, the product was hung up in shipping somewhere for several days and never arrived. Amazon support cancelled that order and re-shipped me another. The re-shipped unit made it farther in the shipping process, but again got hung up in transit, never delivered. Another call to Amazon resulted in an unknown issue within shipping, but was declared damaged and I was refunded. Therefore, Amazon was twice unsuccessful in shipping me this product. I decided to order straight from the Insta360 Store since Amazon wouldn't help me with missing the Prime Days sale. This unit I actually received. HOWEVER! The product has been very, very problematic. Below is the one of the emails with Insta360 product support, in which I list the myriad of problems with the product. "After testing the camera more I'm back to getting the lost connection with lens error again, consistently (see attachment). Before I got consistent lost connection errors I was able to do some video testing. Results are as follows: Insta360 One RS Twin Edition New, fresh out of the box Firmware version: 2.0.8.4 Insta360 website was used for the majority of instructions and user guidance. These documents appear to be very lacking in detail and insufficient to troubleshoot the multitude of problems I’ve faced with this unit. Had to resort to Google, YouTube, etc to find information. General setup: Requires an app on mobile phone to activate. With all the issues I’ve had with this camera, of course my mobile phone is one that is not compatible. Had to borrow a friend’s tablet just to activate my camera so that I could use it. Testing with the 360 lens: All functions are performed through the camera and conducted in accordance with the Insta360 website user manual or informational pages. - At first the frequent error of “lost connection with the lens module”. Still happens occasionally, but unable to duplicate the problem at will. Seems random. Doesn’t matter whether the cage unit is utilized or not. - Even after calibrating the gyro, it’s not working. It does not hold horizon level during playback nor does it track straight when set to do so. - Stitching function not working. Black infinity shaped anomaly where the camera should be stitched out when using a properly straight aligned selfie stick. - Playback on camera results in the video rapidly and continuously spinning on the camera display window. Looks like a helicopter blade going around. Insta360 Studio 2023: - No editing features present. Missing the “Reframe” and “360” icons at the top of the screen to place the software into editing mode. No menu items to select reframe mode or similar. This version is essentially useless. Had to go find the 2021 version. - Insta360 Studio 2021: -Tracking not working. Completely disregards holding a heading/aspect/horizon even with the software toggle enabled. - Video resolution when re-framing from 360 mode looks worse than that of cameras from the 1990’s. Very low resolution and completely pointless to use. Not sure if this is due to the multitude of other problems, but it looks nothing like the YouTube Insta360 One RS 360 module demonstration videos or tutorials. - Re-framed videos still have very severe wide-angle lens effect. How do the people on YouTube get their 360 videos to look reasonably “flat”? I've gone through all the available Insta360 guides and have not yet figured this out. The list of issues continues to build, but I'm exhausted at trying to troubleshoot this unit. The Insta360 Studio 2023 doesn't work, the camera software is very buggy, and it doesn't perform as advertised. Since the unit is new I would like to return it for a full refund, not an exchange. Thank you."

Solid camera, but a bit dated in 2025.
The modularity of this camera is what makes it stand out from the rest. You can switch between 5.7k 360 and up to 6k wide-screen footage, with some seriously extreme wide-angle FOVs in 4k action camera mode. There are spare batteries you can get, as well as dual battery quick Chargers. Don't get the old One R batteries, they're slightly smaller than the RS batteries and don't fit the case the same way. When recording in 5.7k 360, I consistently get around 1h30m of recording time on a single battery, and you can run the camera while it charges. The quality is pretty good, until it gets into a low-light situation. At night it completely falls apart, but Insta360 has a 1-inch model for each action camera and 360 camera, but those are pretty expensive. I would recommend the 1-inch 360 module, but the 1-inch action camera lens doesn't seem worth the cost in my opinion, even though it produces higher than 4k quality. I do own the whole ecosystem. This camera is relatively heavy for it's size. It's not the heaviest of action cameras, but definitely weighs more than other options on the market of a similar form factor. It's pretty sturdy and can withstand some damage to the body, but the lenses scratch very easily. I've seen some third-party replacement lenses, but it will definitely void the warranty if you have one. The One RS comes with bluetooth and wifi capabilities, but requires an adapter for wired microphones and will only connect to airpods wirelessly. It also needs to be connected to either your phone or an optional (and difficult to effectively use without losing footage to freezes and file corruption) gps dongle in order to record gps data. When you do record gps data, you can do a really clean visual overlay onto your footage, which can be customized to suit your style. Every now and then I have issues with this camera freezing in the first few minutes of recording, and losing the entire clip. There is damaged clip recovery built-in, but it doesn't seem to always help. Either way, it only happens occasionally, maybe one in every 20 times. There are other, better options nowadays that come with more features, and more support. This is a really great all-in-one solution for action and 360 footage, but many new 360 cameras have the ability to do much of the same thing.

Amazing camera, even better app
Bought this camera to record my RC drifting hobby. I already own their insta360 Go2 small action camera, so I decided to upgrade and go full 360. This camera kit comes with the 360 and 4k lens. I posted the video of the 360 lens while in a tandem drift session at my local hobby shop Sheldons Hobbies in San Jose CA. This camera comes with a GoPro style mount and you can find other accessories through the insta360 company. The battery life isn't too bad unless you're constantly recording 4k or higher content, good thing is it has a USB C connection so you can plug an external charger onto it to make it last quite a bit longer. If you're looking for an action camera that looks amazing and has easy UI then this is the one.

Just WOW, a totally new perspective.
The Insta360 ONE RS win edition is a superbly versatile 360 camera… er Action camera…all of the above! The camera is about the same size as a stack of business cards and comes with both an action camera lens (4k Boost) and a 360 lense (5.7k dual lens), and with these two lenses, you can convert it to be an action cam or 360 cam. The Insta360 ONE RS has been super fun, especially with my mountain bike videos. I can carry one camera & battery to make videos with lots of perspectives. I especially like the 360 camera mode while helmet-mounted as it mimics a drone following you around. You can reframe the shot in the insta360 app to whatever you want. It is quite impressive all the shots you can get from just one mounting position when shooting with the 360 lens. It’s almost like having several cameras recording simultaneously with how much you can do in post using the app. The action cam mode works really well too. Stabilization easily rivals the GoPro camera I have with super smooth shots. I found the battery life & touch screen are way way better than any GoPro I have used. Navigating through the touch screen is easy and the menu structure is simple. The only I would like to see improved is wind noise protection. The mounting case has a wind muff that does well with light wind or low to medium speeds. However, at super high-speed descents or in bad conditions, you do still get some wind noise. Aside from the occasional wind noise, the audio is crisp and clear, with voices easily heard and pleasing to listen to. Without question, this is my new favorite camera. I just love how versatile it is straight out of the box and the ability to essentially have 2 cameras in 1. Buy it and be glad you did!

360° is the only way to go!
I have taken this camera snorkling, mountaineering, hiking, cycling, and pretty much everywhere. Honestly, I don't ever use the action cam module. I use the 360 for everything and frame in shots after the fact. Youtube supports 360° vids from the device, but 5.6k is too low of res for Google Streetviews.
