It's a good food, but not my favorite. Too much protein, too little fibre. Shirakura is healthier for algae eating shrimp.
When put in the tank, it doesn't instantly sink. This is actually a good thing because it floats on the surface to the point of scattering all over the tank. Then they start sinking. My red and fire red cherry shrimp colonies seem to like it. They like to grab a "chunk" and hog it all to themselves. My concern is that I have to try to put in the number of granules equal to the number of shrimp I have. If I put in less, then some shrimp simply won't get fed (which concerns me most in regards to the smaller or younger shrimp). If I put in more, then some granules will sit there until the shrimp decide to have a second meal. This might be fine with tanks with only a few shrimp, but I have tanks with full colonies of shrimp. I might have 50 or 75 or maybe even 100 shrimp in a colony. There are far too many to count. And since my shrimp tanks are heavily planted, I can't eyeball it to see if all the shrimp have a granule or if some are sitting there hungry. I recently bought 50 amano shrimp and have had them in quarantine for the last three weeks. I lost a couple early on, but the rest have been healthy ever since. I decided to feed them some of this food, and I strongly regret it. The next day, 5 shrimp had died. I removed the dead shrimp and did a water change in order to clean up any remaining food. It's now a day later, and all the rest of the shrimp are okay. I'm not sure what killed those 5 shrimp, but it was odd that it happened right after I fed them this food. The only thing that I can conclude is that this food encourages the shrimp to overeat which means it goes through their digestive track very quickly, making it more difficult for them to absorb the nutrients. Further, this food contains little fibre which can cause their digestive tracks to become constipated. Put together, you have shrimp gorging themselves on food that's causes constipation. I have to wonder if this is why 5 of my shrimp died after feeding on this food. I generally prefer to feed my shrimp Shirakura Shrimp Food (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00KMIJ98E). I've used that food for 7 years with great success. It lasts a very long time because the food is more dense. The Fluval Shrimp Granules are very light weight which makes me think they're puffed up with air (kind of like popcorn). Shirakura Shrimp Food is more expensive, but the nutrient content is better for shrimp (lower protein, higher fibre). My only complaint about the Shirakura is that the shrimp go nuts over it, swarming all over it. I tend to put in several pieces to help decrease the fighting frenzy over it. That also helps me ensure that all the shrimp, including the smaller and younger ones, are fed each time. So I like this Fluval food okay. I tend to use it when I'm in a hurry because I can quickly put some in and run off. I prefer the Shirakura food because it's more nutritious and I can be certain all the shrimp are getting fed, but because they sink right away, I take a little more time to drop the food in various places in the tank (it doesn't float like the Fluval so I have to spread it around myself). After having my amano shrimp dying after eating the Fluval food, I think I'll feed it very sparingly in the future and stick to the Shirakura as their main food.

Shrimp Like It
My shrimp like this and within about 15min of dropping it in their tank most of them have usually found a piece to munch on for a while. I only have 10-20shrimp at the moment, so this is going to last me a LONG time, and it is a pretty good deal considering the first two ingredients are fish meal and krill instead of fillers (corn meal, squid meal, wheat flour, earthworm meal, dried spirulina algae, wheat gluten meal, dried seaweed meal, dried yeast, squid liver meal are the next 9). Not sure if they like this because it's food or because it's good food, but it seems like they at least enjoy it more than what they get off the plants and sponge filter because when they smell it they start searching. I don't think they should only be fed this, so sometimes I give them blanched peas and will be getting some algae wafers soon, but this is good stuff. Also, if your like me and for some reason it bothers you that the food doesn't immediately sink, just pinch it between your fingers and drop it just under the surface of the water. It will sink immediately.

Arrived as described and on time
Arrived as described and on time. I have seen my shrimp eat it, not to often do I see them eating it though and I do watch my tank alot. They definetly don't rush to it as I see with foods in some shrimp videos but I can't say that it's any less quality just because mine don't, I do grow algae in my tank so this may be a factor. It got 5 stars because it seems to be good quality, I did 4 stars for flavor and scent because the fact they don't rush to it.

Great price, shrimp love it
Was told to use a product at LFS that was $30.00, I ordered this for somewhere around $6.50 with free shipping, was on my doorstep in 2 days. My shrimp love it and are growing exponentially now. I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a good shrimp food product. BTW I've been using this for 3 weeks now on 2 tanks and I would guess it will last 2 years.

Not too happy with this one
The reviews were good, but it doesn't seem to be working too well for me. I don't know what the problem could be, possibly my water quality.

Shrimp love it. I follow shrimp
Shrimp go crazy over the food. However the fact that it floats for a bit is kind of annoying but I over looked that one issue due to the fact my shrimp love it. I feed using a glass dish to keep the mess down in the tank. I take an old turkey baster (or any hollow tube that reaches) pull the bulb off insert it into tank pointed towards the glass dish. I then input the Fluval granules and lift up a little on the tube. The granules go right into the dish and the shrimp devour.
