Word Roots Beginning: Learning The Building Blocks of Better Spelling and Vocabulary

Latin is the root for so many romance language words! It is so useful for my kiddo and will aid her linguistic studies.

We are using Word Roots (Beginning) for Homeschooling and my daughter is loving it. I start off helping her with the first example and then she will say, “Mom don’t help me. “I want to do this by myself.” For someone who dislikes reading and would cry to pick up a book, sure loves this book! I’m glad she’s enjoying this book. She’s doing one lesson per day. We also bought Level 1 as well and can’t to start on it as soon as she’s finished with the Beginning Level!

Learning word roots really does help for comprehension. It really helps to break the word down and get the definition of it without a dictionary. You can discover and understand what a new word means if you can identify the root. I bought this book for my kids and after working with them in this book, they were able to give me the meanings of if words they never knew before.

I was pleased to add this into our language arts program mid way through this school year. The activities are simple enough for the kids to do with little assistance. If you don't want to do a formal latin or greek program, this is a nice short cut to some of the benefits.

We ordered this book for my son when he was in third grade, after he studied it, we noticed his spelling and reading comprehension improved so much, he use lots of new bigger words when he talks, his vocabulary gets to a new level, this book benefits him in many other ways too.

Great workbook, lots of exercises.

My 11 year old daughter is using this as a part of her homeschool curriculum this year. It is a little too easy for her age, but we wanted to start at the beginning. We’re excited to work through more of the books. I think this level would be perfect for 3rd-4th grade.

This workbook teaches students basic word roots leading to increased vocabulary and spelling skills. Readers will be more able to infer the meaning and pronunciation of newly encountered words if they have a firm grasp of word roots.
