Works great - once you finally remove the old one!
Instructions were easy to follow, and the unit installed very easily. Just beware if you have hard water, as that will seal the old in pretty tight. I've seen lots of removal tips, but the only thing that worked for me was to torque it loose with a BIG screwdriver. Apply pressure right at the seal - anyplace else and you can bend the metal pipes behind the wall.

Solved The Problem
I hate Kohler products, but since I didn't want to rip the the shower out I had to fix the fixture the house came with. Five showers a day for ten years isn't bad for a fixture. Don't bother calling the Kohler help-line, Bambi will just tell you to replace both the valve and the proportioner. I ordered the valve first and that stopped the drip. After a few minutes of thinking things out I installed it 180 degrees backwards which caused the hot to come on first instead of the cold. This seems to be the only way you can screw it up. The screws that attached the faceplate were difficult to screw in as if the threads weren't fully tapped. I used plumbers grease to help preserve the O-Rings and so far the drip is gone. It was much easier to buy it from Amazon than put up with the dumb looks I always get at Lowe's. If I was remodeling I would install a Delta or Moen fixture; my Kohler kitchen faucet only lasted about five years. I give it five stars because it was a cheap and easy fix.

Works but a tiny bit larger than the original
Simple install that solved my shower leak problem and saved me a couple hundred dollars in plumber fees. It was ever so slightly larger than the original which made the faucet handle collar a bit more difficult to slip on but a little oil on the inside of the collar solved that issue.

So far it stopped the dripping..
So far it stopped the dripping. Installation was easy and simple! Time will tell if this KOHLER GENUINE part how much it could last. It works for the following KOHLER's trim (in the picture)

Good as New
After 15 years it was time to fix the mixer due to wear and tear. Instead of replacing the whole shower body, replacing the mixer and cartilage did the trick.

High Failure Rate - Buyer Beware
I had to replace this part three times now within 7 years of living in my house. Not sure why but this stem mixing valve seems to fail every 2-3 years. These parts typically aren’t supposed to fail that frequently and usually only have to replace them once every 15-20 years. After installing a new one, about 2-3 years later the shower handle stops working and I hear a pop. The shower handle spins loosely out of control and I can’t turn the water off. Which forces me to turn the main water shutoff off, unscrew the handle, trim, and manually turn off the hot and cold valves connected to the pipe. The worst part is getting the old one off, then having to reorder a new one. Something inside this thing fails and strips away whatever is controlling the water from turning on and off. What a pain! Then I have to reinstall it, put the trim back, and recaulk around the round plate around the faucet handle. At this point you’re better off buying the other Chinese clones of these 1/2 the price honestly. May as well have several on hand versus waiting a week to shower again. Not sure if anyone else has the issue I do. Some blame having hard water but I don’t see that making stems fail and internal parts failing inside these stems. Seems it’s a junk part but this doesn’t surprise me these days. But I still can’t get over the fact of how high this thing has failed. Again three replacements in 7 years. Some are probably wondering why not just switch from Kohler to another brand then? Well good luck with that. It will require replacing the entire valve system behind your wall connected to your pipes. This is because each faucet brand has a unique valve system that is only compatible with its own brand. Which means you have to tear your wall or tile wall out if you don’t have an existing large access panel and get a plumber to do the job most likely.

Product is as described and is a direct factory manufactured piece from Kohler. Fixed the issue I was having with a 15 year old cartridge. Slow drip for the last few months. Arrived quick and with all the related parts and extra seals and lubricant.

It took me a month to install this product. Although I watched how to do it in Youtube, at first, I was still hesitant to install it because, I thought it would be complicated... I almost called a plumber. But it was a very simple installation.... I even learned to assemble and disassemble this product, using the old one that I replaced. As a matter of fact, the old one was not really broken... the leaking was caused by the displacement of the washer for the cold water and for the hot water not coming out all the time, it was the spring that was displaced. I cleaned the whole unit, greased the springs and washers and it's all good !! But of course, I am now using the new one.
