Hassan and Aneesa Love Ramadan Review: Adorable - The book deals with a lot of Ramadan issues such as sahur, iftar, giving charity, taraweeh, not having to fast if one is a child, or also fasting a half day as a child. The illustrations are super cute, and the words simple and easy to understand. The book teaches children all the basics of Ramadan and is sure to entertain your little ones. ( my kids especially liked the picture of the family at sahur 😉) Review: Great book! - My children love this book. I replace the characters names with the names of my son and daughter. The illustrations are beautiful. Explains Ramadan in a way children can easily understand. Good to have reading material where my children can relate to culturally, ( names, dress, religion, etc). Will purchase more from this series.

Good intro for kids to Ramadan
This book follows two little kids as they learn about Ramadan during the holy month. My kids (ages 7 and almost 4) absolutely loved it, esp the younger one.

Love the illustrations. No inaccuracies, but clunky writing
Lively illustrations, i really liked the focus on childrens choices of fasting, the beauty of it, as well and there not being pressure on them. As others have pointed out, it's a bit odd so far as writing goes. I almost get the feeling this started out longer and bits were lost to the editing process for whatever reason, the end result is a bit clunky and disappointing. My kids are all under 4, so they could care less about the way it flows, but I find myself picking it less than some due to this. Would love to see them all eating iftar as a family, going to the masjid for taraweh, etc.. sortof piecemeal and if love to see the first draft . As for the book itself, pretty flimsy. More like a large pamphlet or procure than a real book, so cant leave it out for the kids to page through on their own as it just wouldn't survive. Not because it's paper cover and pages, but the quality and thickness of them and the method of binding means it's pretty fragile.

My 2 year old lives all Hasan and Aneesa books. This worked well to introduce her to Ramadan just before it started. What I really like us that - unlike most other children books about Ramadan - the children that are fasting (or attempting to do so) take it with the positivity and zeal that is appropriate for the Muslim: they are eager to try fasting and want to see it through, anticipating the feeling of satisfaction from a completed day if fasting. I dislike fasting being portrayed as a form of "torture" that the young protagonist tried to dodge and I binned a few kids' books before due to this. So, go Hasan and Aneesa!

There are not so many books out there written for children about Ramadan. This has been an instant favourite. It explains in simple language and colourful images the basics of Ramadan, using relatable situations. Lovely book! Would definitely recommend to any parents or teachers looking to explain the basics and fun of Ramadan to children.
