Would this product deteriorate the paper?** A: Paper is the weakest link in old manuscripts, letters, etc. If it has not turned yellow, but still remains white, you don't need a protictive film on it. The old lead pencils do not fade, and most ink that old is permanent. (Any fading you see is usually the acid based paper taking the annotations with it. I've had more than hundred-year-old documents disintegrate into flakes, while the pencil and ink annotations remained intact on the flakes. Most old papers were not acid free, so with age they fall apart and yellow. I have family photos from more than a hundred years ago, and it is usually the photo image that fades, leaving pencil notations still scalable.If you want to preserve the diary, I'd recommend scanning it as a PDF file, giving you a permanent digital record. If you want to retain the fading/color of the original, scan in color.This product is not permanent fixative, this is workable, meaning it can be rubbed off. **Q: Could this protect a drawing on a chalkboard drawn with water based chalk pens?** A: I would not be able to answer this question.
