The ad says this product is safe for food storage, but the buckets do not have any recycling numbers on the bottom, so I have my doubts. I posted a similar question and got no response. I now own 3 black buckets that will be used to store motor oil because I can't get any verification that they're actually food safe. Any plastic with one of the recognizable recycling numbers on it will be BPA free if made after 2012. These buckets bare no such number.
