What's the difference between the A80 and the A30?

The primary difference between the two is that the a80 is a little more durable in design and the ability to take abuse. The Military 810F rating indicates greater durability under harsher conditions vs. the 810G. This refers to testing against extreme pressures, temperatures, humidity, collision, etc. Additionally, the a80 is touted as "waterproof". If you work in rainy climates or near water, the waterproof option may work better for you. Aside from that, both hard drives offer the same capacity and USB 3.0/2.0 standards. and the same, simple USB to USB connecting cable, which doubles well as a transfer cable for migrating information between PC's. what is the hard drive brand

I do not know the mfgr of the hard drive. we never disassembled the unit to find out. However we can attest to the durability of the HD's. We have 6 of the 2TB units that we have used daily for over 2 years and have not had ANY problems with any of them.

Options are offered as shockproof and not, but the model is the a30 which is described as shockproof. Would you please explain the inconsisteny?

Item passed a 3 meter drop test as well as being shock proof. I dropped mine on a cement driveway, still works fine.
