Honeycomb design on both sides. Has a nice large hole if you choose to put on a hanger hook.We got these for placing hot plates on table out of toaster oven as we do not irradiate our food from a microwave (microwaves ruin food nutrition value and it changes the food so the body is confused by the irradiation... and the food keeps irradiating even after you eat it... so they are convenient but deadly as they take a toll). The silicone surface keeps the plates from easily sliding around like they do on a hard trivet surface, so they work perfectly. Easily drip dry after washing. We even have placed them on the top shelf of dishwasher. My only downgrade is the colors.
