## Description

The FLIR MR60 moisture meter Pro is an easy-to-use pin and pinless moisture meter with advanced functionality and a full-color display to meet all your professional measurement needs. An integrated pinless sensor and an external pin probe provide the flexibility to take either destructive or non-destructive measurements. Conveniently save screenshots of your measurements as a csv file with the date, time, and settings. The MR60 is also compatible with flir’s full line of external moisture Probes, so you have the flexibility to expand your meter as needed. Built portable and durable enough to withstand a 3-meter Drop, you can take MR60 with you anywhere – even to your toughest jobs. Review: I purchased this MR60 meter a year ago and it is now due for calibration. I contacted Flir Tech support only to be told they do not have a facility in the UK for this service, I was told to contact a third party calibration lab, I contacted three labs and they all replied with the same answer, they could not calibrate this meter as Flir would not disclose the procedure and the specs, also i eventually found out the meter I received was 4 years old. So now I’m left with a meter I cannot trust and £360 out of pocket.
Review: Purchased this after a fire in the apartment above mine and subsequent water damage. I needed to be able to test for moisture in the walls in order to work out what was wet and hence what would need to be dried out and where there might later be mold growth. This is a professional grade tool which the remediation expert (the people called in by the insurance company to check for water damage and then deal with it) noted was as good as the tool he used. It's well built, comes with a decent warranty and did the job I needed reliably. I was initially a little confused as to how to use it. In reading the manual again now, I realize that I only scratched the surface of what it can do. I had no idea that it has a thermal camera built in!!?! It also has an external pin probe attachment for measuring below the surface of wood and other softer materials, possibly where temperature is an issue. I would strongly recommend taking the ten minutes necessary to read the manual in order to get the most out of this product, BEFORE you use it. This will save you a bunch of dicking around and give you accurate results straight out of the gate. I have no idea how well this holds up to the kinds of professional moisture meters a professional carpenter would use, but given that this costs the same as a basic IR thermal camera, but has much more accurate surface measurement equipment, AND it will test different types of lumber as well , all for the price of a cheap thermal camera, it really can't be beaten. Highly recommended!

**Q: Why use this instead of just a normal thermal camera?**
A: Hi, Matt M. Totally agree with you - if you need only just to spot the problem area (leakage in a wall or elsewhere) intending to fix it and get rid of it - the very Flir's C2 or TG165 would be pretty handy and cover all the needs of this piece/type of job. The MR160 is a multi-tool for those who need to "Locate the Enemy and MEASURE the Hostility" for some specific needs or considerations. )

**Q: If i need to find a steam leak in a 7000 sq ft apartment building, should i get this or the tg165?**
A: I would get the MR176 because the Thermal Imager may pick up the steam and the change in temperature, not just look for moisture.

**Q: Is this essentially the same camera as the tg165 but with extra features that make it good for moisture?**
A: Not at all, the thermal imager is so so. But the true benefit is the ability to read the moisture content of material and to have all your customized readings on the screen at all times, including relative humidity, ambient air, etc. I have the 176 which does probe testing and also has a pad on the back of the unit, this pad lets you pull a reading without destructive measures (awesome for general walk arounds)! Can't remember what the other models offered, but I am happy with the 176. Great for mold and home inspections. I do also have an additional flir thermal imager. I definitely recommend one with MSX technology. The difference is unreal! Good Luck.

A: Hello John Jo,A thermal camera and moisture meter would perform the same tasks. The convenience and innovation on the MR160 is that the unit will do the job of both separate units. The IR function in the MR160 is for visual guidance, where a thermal camera may provide more detailed temperature information. Best Regards...
