Is the software actually good, or just a resource hog?

The software is identical to the Elgato Streamdeck software if you are familiar with that. I think it's pretty feature rich (e.g. you can assign simple actions such as key presses, open folders/applications/websites, or more intelligent "multi-action" commands like "do this, then wait a split second then do that"). There are also many plugins that can be "installed" to expand the types of commands you can assign (e.g. can control philips hue lights, or even others that people build themselves and allow others to use - e.g. for spotify - although those ones don't work that well in my experience).
Also some of the plugins obviously might not make much sense for the pedal (e.g. a simple clock to show on the streamdeck won't do anything on the pedal without a screen).

What I also find useful is that the commands can be application-specific. So for example you can have left and right pedal to go forwards and backwards on Google Chrome, and say do PageUp / pageDown on windows word.

As to how much resources it uses up - when running in the background it takes like 80mb or memory and virtually no CPU (although I have both the streamdeck XL + the pedal so that might make the resource utilisation higher than if it was only say the pedal).

Is it possible to set up these pedals so that each pedal is bound to a key on my keyboard?

can you rest your foot on the pedal and then apply pressure to click, or would your foot click the buttons with its weight?

I can rest my foot on it and then just apply additional pressure when I want to activate the section of the pedal.
