None of the documentation show a model number or specifically how much sand is required. I'm looking for a consensus.

I don't remember for sure,but believe it was 300 lbs. I remember reading it in several places.Check other reviews. I remember it was about 3/4 full when finished.Also read that it's not always necessary to use max amount,depending on pool size,etc. Also there was no direction on installing the breather tube that connects to a nipple on the bottom octopus where the spreader tubes are,and needs to be tied to the riser so the breather end is near the top,under the valve and out of the sand. I used tie wraps.Make sure to fill half way with water,before adding sand. Will allow sand to settle gently around tubes.

Do the laterals fold up for ease of installation?

You assemble them inside. Its easy. There is a funnel to pour sand so you don't break them.

Can this be used for inground swimming pool with hayward .75-hp pump?

I would recommend at least 3/4 -1 HP Pump, it depends on how many gallons of water that has to circulate per hour.
