When they are completely charged, the led light will be off. The manufacturer does say to expend as much battery as possible before recharging. Charging the battery when it hasn't been depleted shortens the life of the battery. You can tell when the keyboard and mouse need charging because their led lights flash ten times when they come out of sleep mode. This happens when you first turn on your source device. I know you get what you pay for but my reasoning was that I could have 2 or 3 cheapies for the price of the Cherry. I'm so glad I went with quality over quantity. What a BEAST! And a BEAUTY! The keyboard is solid, comfortable and very responsive. The buttons are right where they need to be with no wasted space. I have had it about a month and a half now, working 40+ hours a week, and neither the mouse nor keyboard have had to be charged yet. Speaking of the mouse, it is really comfortable, not too big and bulky but not too small either. It has adjustable DPI and a nice feel to the rubber wheel. Plus it just looks fantastic and classy. The keyboard is heavy enough and has rubber on the bottom to never slide as I type. I could not be happier with this purchase! I HIGHLY recommend the Cherry keyboard/mouse combo.
