I always watch closely when I give a new treat just in case he destroys it. AND that is exactly what happened to this. The reviews I read made it seem like it would last but had I not take it it wouldnt have made it 10 minutes. I only took it because of the way it was splintering and I was concerned he would cut his mouth or swallow the sharp pieces. It seems to last very well, she gnawed on it quite a bit and it's still pretty much intact. It's going to be a while before she manages to chew and eat the whole thing.It's a compressed, hard bar - it reminds me of a bar of soap, but much harder. I ordered the Light bars, and one was broken in half in the tube but for me, that was just the right size. They are miniature dachshunds, so I thought the size would be sufficient. Turns out I was wrong! They broke everything apart into sharp pieces so I had to take it away from them. They probably would have been ok if I got the very large, thick bars, but I don't want to risk it.
