I havn't tried anything else in it yet but hoping to dry some figs when they get ripe.I love the sp racks that are super easy to clean.I also love that they are clear so you can see inside without having to open it. it is nice that it has a temperature control and timer so you can set it and forget it. I can only give three stars on this for two reasons... it did not come with instructions and I couldn't get the temperature to adjust. Once I figured out how to use it I liked the results. Thank goodness for YouTube and cooking blogs. I have never used a dehydrator, I didn't know how to prepare my fruit, what temperature, or how long to let it dry out.The appliance is pretty nice. It has 6 clear trays, a vented lid, timer control, and a digital read out for remaining time and temperature. The bottom part is pretty nice and sturdy.I made two batches of fruit. The first batch I used an apple, a nectarine, banana, and a bunch of strawberries. The second batch was just nectarines and strawberries. I cleaned and sliced the fruit, then placed them on the trays. I could have put more on the trays but didn't know what to expect.While running the appliance is fairly quiet. You can hear the fan that circulates the warm air sort of blowing. Mine was set at 120 degrees and I could hear the heat turn off when it got to temp. I stuck a thermometer in a slot and it consistently read 121 and 122 degrees. The trays rotate 360 degrees.I let the machine run about 24 hours, checking on it occasionally. The first time I turned it off at night, but the second time I let it run trusting the timer would turn it off and that it seemed safe enough to leave on.I was really happy with the results. I think all of the fruit came out consistently dry and none of it was discolored (even though my photos might look that way.) it's pretty cool how small they get without any moisture in them. The flavor! You don't lose any flavor at all. They made a great snack rather than chips.
