Even kept out of direct outside sunlight, they deteriorated with age due to indirect UV light. The sun here in North Texas is severe in the summers. The different sprays of this new unit look like they will do the job. One minor issue for our application as an outside shower: the shower setting sprays water unevenly and a bit to one side. It is usable, but the water come out of the spray head crooked. It may be that the holes in the plastic spray head are not straight. The spray is strong and works well for a shower. The only issue is that spray pattern is not even. Several other spray heads used previously over the years have all had even, straight spray patterns, but they only lasted a couple of years each because the rubber spray nozzles. It still dripped after the water was shut off.
