Machete or awesome tiny sword?
My father lives out in the woods and needed a good machete for his 'man in the woods' shenanigans. He, and I, were pleasantly surprised to discover that this particular machete is also a beautiful, miniature sword that - when sharpened - is more than up to the task of taking down brush and overgrown branches on both healthy and dead flora. This thing is sturdy, my friends. It arrives fairly sharp, but a couple of passes on a whetstone made it a lean, mean, chopping machine. The blade held up well to repeated blows, and the included belt holster hangs comfortably at waist-height for sheathing and unsheathing. This was exactly what I was hoping for as a gift for my pops. If your dad is also one who likes sharp, choppy things for his odd outdoor hobbies, he would benefit from having this as well.

Sturdy and has held up so far.
Has kept an edge and has worked well. The weight is heavy and stacked on top of the blade due to its wedge shape requiring a little control in your swing but the weight also helps the cut so giving up power in the swing is not an issue to result. Be sure to oil the blade as it will oxidize if you do not and perhaps oiling the wood lightly once in awhile to preserve it and prevent splinters. Handle halves could be better cut and aligned to each other as they are cut slightly small to cover the tang and have variations between the 2 halves so don't match in placment. That said the small mistakes do not interfere with my grip or use.

Great short blade machete!
Just received this Bare Bones Nata machete and I am digging it! The walnut handle is well done and the grip is ergonomic at least for my hand. The blade came sharpish enough but the steel is quality and the right amount of heft for the design and length. I was looking for a shorter blade machete and this fit my needs. The price point is very reasonable. The sheath is nice enough however I would have preferred a different type belt/ carry attachment but I’ll likely fabricate something else for it though I haven’t given that aspect much thought yet. The machete swings well as I was looking for a blade that’s both long enough and short enough to use in tight wooded areas. Also a blade without a lot of flex like say a Gerber camp machete. I did add a wrist loop of 550 cord though. Overall a solid machete!

Lacking on wood handle fit and finish
This is strictly a visual review. This knife will probably do the job great as it seems sturdy but it’s really lacking in the fit and finish regarding the wood handle. The handle scales are not a matched set or even a close try to match set. When sanding they over sanded and created low spots This basically means that the sides are not flat. I purchased for around $ 45.00 so I will keep it but would definitely return if I paid full or near full price.

Well worth the money.
Took it out of the boxes and sheath and went to work on my driveway. Trees and limbs up to 3 in across. About 150 ft alongside of the driveway. Hour and a half worth of work. This is going to last a long time. I did chip it and it will chip. I had a few rocks. Extremely impressed with this small chips that I did get in it for as hard as I was hitting and as cold as it is out right now. 15° frozen trees. A little smaller than I thought. My arms are still tired though. I hope this helps anyone out there God bless.

Best little hatchet for trimming limbs
Have a ten acre tract with lot's of trees. Use this regularly to manicure the lower branches. Heavy enough, well balanced, good steel holds a sharp edge quite well. Will buy another to keep on my Harley when I hit the road. Great camp tool! 9/09/24 update: been using this little hatchet to trim branches off fir trees I've been clearing before running them through the chipper. This tool performs well. It's light weight which means I can work longer before needing a break. Blade keeps a decent edge on it. Mine is full of pitch... it gets used!

Way better than I expected after reading reviews and watching the vids
After the reviews, pics of flaws and defects and videos, I didn't know what to expect but definitely didn't expect to be happy when it arrived. But it's here and everything is great. At least with mine. Blade came plenty sharp, handle is on tight and is in great shape. The full tang is not overlapping the wood handle anywhere. Might be hit or miss but fresh from the box I'm happy value seems 👍

Meh
Handle is an Quality Control embarrassment. Handle was so poorly fit it was unusable, wood was not flush with tang. Fit of the handle at the finger groove was even worse. Two swings and I went to the shop and spent less then 5 minutes and a belt sander later to get a really nice fit. Also why clear coat the wood? If the goal was to make it nice and slick, mission accomplished . Spend time scraping it off ,then oil it and you have a nice grip. Sheath is good , I like the belt loop in addition to the clip. The machete arrived sharp and the steel appears to be of the quality you expect at the price I paid. If I'm sounding harsh its because 5 minutes of work before final fit and finish would have easily made this a 4-5 star review. Glad I didn't order the axe as well. Later Homies
