When the shades are up on the windows with light shining through, they appear a much lighter and let light in. I had white previously, which I liked, but now I prefer the cafe color because it gives the room a softer look, but still allows light in and looks pretty on the windows. The white looks harsh in comparison. **Q: does the clips come with the shades? i bought a set that was opened and no clips were inside.** A: Aha -- this is the reason that I didn't read the Q&A before I bought them! They already said that they come with clips, which they don't!!! "No cords for a clean look and child safety – use included clips to raise and lower shade." **Q: Just to confirm-"6 Pack" means getting 6 separate shades for the given price?** A: Yes. You get six shades in a single box—good for the environment and why I purchased this—BUT you get no clips. They will cost an additional $10-$15. **Q: will the adhesive ruin the painted wood framed window?** A: No, the adhesive is not that strong. I ended up replacing the original adhesive strip with stronger double-sided tape in order to get it to stay. I didn’t want to replace the blinds in my child’s room with more plastic blinds because the sun just destroys them, making them brittle and crack apart. I also didn’t want to invest in expensive blinds that might just get broken in a kids room either). Yes its a little tedious to have to lift and clip to close, but its so simple and they are quite pleasant looking for being paper. I liked them so much I intend to install in my room to block out the afternoon sun intensity and heat, while still being able to enjoy having light filter through.
