Do these glide on rubber tile mats? I have an at home gym with the rubber mats and want to know if they glide.

Hello, I'm so sorry but these will not slide on rubber Only surfaces like carpet, AstroTurf, hardwood, tile, etc.

Does excessive use in one area damage the carpet?

Any time you repeatedly slide something over one spot could cause damage I would think. I use mine on the wood floor or tile.

Will these work on tile?

They work on carpet, hardwood and linoleum, but they can be iffy on some tile especially is the gaps between the are large or they have a less then smooth finish.
