## Description

Hydraulics feature two plies that sandwich a thin layer of oil and give the fat, deep, and short sound pioneered by early 70's rock and roll. The oil decreases sustain and enhances attack and low-end. Additionally, Hydraulics are famously easy to tune.making them a perfect fix for troublesome drums and younger players looking for instant sound. Hydraulic Black Series Overview Evans black Hydraulic series features a thin film of oil between two plies of thin film offering maximum durability, a fat, deep and short sound pioneered by early 70's rock and roll. Hydraulics are famously easy to tune, making them a perfect fix for troublesome drums and players with little tuning experience. The revolutionary Evans Level 360 drum head technology is found in the proprietary collar design that extends the level playing surface of the drum head 360 degrees around the drum. This vertically enhanced collar design ensures balanced contact with the critical bearing edge of the drum shell, resulting in: Ease of fit Ease of tuning Extended tuning range and quality of sound Available on all Evans 6 20 inch Batter and Resonant Drum set, Snare Side, Concert and Marching Tenor heads. Evans Level 360 technology solves the age-old dilemma of traditional synthetic heads consistently not fitting a variety of drum shells without using force that chokes the responsiveness of the head and the drum’s performance. The Level 360 Blueprint The benefits provided by Evans Level 360 technology stem from a groundbreaking collar design: Steeper Collar: Extends the level plane of the drum head to ensure balanced contact with the critical bearing edge of the drum shell. Roll-over Hoop: Provides strength and stability where the film meets the hoop, for greater durability without diminishing performance. Balanced Contact: For ease of tuning and enhanced quality of sound. Greater Tonal Range: Wider tuning options result in higher levels of responsivness and resonance, giving you the confidence to tune your drums high or low.

Review: Wow...unreal difference between these and factory grade Ludwig heads. - never used Evans heads before although always intrigued. I was more of a REMO pinstripe guy given my drum teacher back in the day was a devotee...and don't get me wrong REMO are great...however, I was always curious to try the Evans heads. I recently purchased a Ludwig kit and the factory heads on them had a ring like being inside a cathedral church bell. I needed something less "ringy" and with a deeper resonance. My kit is in the basement FWIW, with (finished) concrete walls so reverb is real. I got 10,13,16 tom and the 16 inch kick heads. All I can say is super impressed with the tone and resonance. It's such a massive upgrade from the factory heads, it's kinda unbelievable they ship factory drums with such lousy heads by comparison. The Evans hydraulics have exceeded my expectations. Further, they're incredibly easy to tune and after playing for a full weekend I really just want to sit and play even more. Will 100% buy again.
Review: Evans Hydraulic Heads are Perfect for Rock on Birch and Mple Kits - This head and overall Evan's hydraulic drum head line it's excellent altogether, provides good attack, warm deep tone, yet short sustain. I play multiple genres of music, primarily live performances in all settings, and I have found these heads to be my go-to's. I have been using these heads for many years, the only thing new to me was the blue color which is a very cool look on my white Yamaha Birch Stage Custom drum shells. I've also utilized the Evans hydraulic heads on other kits including Pearl and PDP all Maple kits, and they sounded phenomenal on those as well.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Evans Hydraulic Heads are Perfect for Rock on Birch and Mple Kits

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not for everyone, but I love them
*by J***A on November 1, 2023*

Hydraulics are an acquired taste. They wouldn't be my first choice as far as best sounding heads go, maybe not even top 5, but man these things are durable. They also may be the easiest heads to tune, thanks in part to the Evans 360. This was my first time trying one out on my snare batter. I use a 12" metal snare from an old Mapex Venus kit, mainly because of its small footprint. I play exclusively live with a mic, and though I normally need to muffle the snare, this head was good to go as soon as I tightened the lugs. Nice controlled sound. One could argue that it sounds a bit muted or "dead", but through the mic it sounds pretty awesome. After 6-7 shows, my previous G2 would have quite a few indentation, however this head still has a taut, flat surface. Loving the blue color too. I picked up some glass heads for my toms. Everything blends very nicely. I'm thinking about trying out hydraulics on my roto toms soon. Though rotos commonly use single-ply, I'm thinking they may sound decent through a mic. Only thing I'd be reluctant about is the kick, but that's mainly because I love the EMAD so much. Overall, I recommend these if you: - are looking for a specific dampened sound - will be playing them through mics - value durability over an open sound - have trouble tuning your drums, especially if the shells are out of round
