The minor downsides compared to the MS product: it's a little heavier, down to the battery I guess. The action feels a little more "clicky" and the plastic a little lower quality than the MS keyboard. To be clear though, this isn't a Fisher Price "My first keyboard" and it's nice to use. The Enter key is oblong and not an L-shape. And the fabric feels a little more synthetic than the MS one. These are all little deficiencies, though and without the advantage of the MS keyboard to compare against, don't think I'd have noticed. Downsides out of the way, the BT connection transforms the usability of the machine. I can place the screen on the other side of the desk, at the end of a desk sharing the screen, or on the tray table on a train or plane and work with the keyboard in my lap. I've dropped the kick-stand on the Surface into the magazine slot on a plane seat back and worked with the keyboard on the table, comfortable facing a screen at head height. The magnet is strong enough to hold the keyboard onto the Surface, with the keyboard dangling from the machine and battery life isn't an issue. It just makes using the Surface as a laptop an immensely more comfortable and enjoyable experience. Add to that the cost saving against the MS product and it's hard to make a case against this. Review: Excellent Customer Service - The keyboard itself is fine. Connected to my Surface easily and is comfortable to type on. However, the battery life is poor - perhaps I have a keyboard with a faulty battery? I switch the keyboard off when I have finished using it but find that it is flat by the following day and I have to charge it before I can use it. Charging is quick fortunately but this makes the keyboard less useful than I had hoped it would be. After seeing Arteck saw the review that I posted, they contacted me. They said that I appeared to have a faulty model and offered to replace it free of charge. I did not have to return the faulty model. The new keyboard arrived within three days and works fine. In my experience, you can purchase their products with confidence as they respond quickly and appropriately if things are not right. ## Features - Make Surface Pro Like a Laptop: The keyboard is physically attached to Surface Pro via magnetic like a laptop and the connection is though Bluetooth. After the Bluetooth is connected, mechanical keys and touchpad simply make you like using a laptop. This keyboard is suitable for Surface 12.3-inch Pro 7, Pro 6, Pro 5, Pro 4, Pro 3. This keyboard is not suitable for Surface Pro 9/8. If you wish to order Surface Pro 9/8 keyboard, please search B09Z2DDHSG. - Bluetooth Keyboard: Mechanical keys and extra-large trackpad make surface pro more useful with typing, navigation and control. Slim and compact, yet performs like a traditional, full-size keyboard. - Functional Media Keys and touchpad: Enjoy the easily control of your Surface Pro with the touchpad and the media hot keys. - Charge up in 1 hour and enjoy 50 hours of uninterrupted use. - Package contents: Arteck Bluetooth keyboard for Surface Pro, USB charging cable, user manual, 24-month warranty and friendly support. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B083NZ77M2 | | Antenna Location | Gaming, Office | | Best Sellers Rank | 7,463 in Computers & Accessories ( See Top 100 in Computers & Accessories ) 162 in Tablet Keyboards | | Box Contents | USB Cable | | Brand | Arteck | | Brand Name | Arteck | | Button Quantity | 78 | | Colour | Black | | Compatible Devices | Microsoft Surface Pro | | Compatible Operating System Family | Windows | | Compatible Tablet Computer Models | Microsoft Surface Pro 3, Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Microsoft Surface Pro 5, Microsoft Surface Pro 6, Microsoft Surface Pro 7 | | Compatible devices | Microsoft Surface Pro | | Connectivity Technology | Bluetooth | | Connectivity technology | Bluetooth | | Country of Origin | China | | Customer Reviews | 4.2 out of 5 stars 1,714 Reviews | | EU Spare Part Availability Duration | 2 Years | | Enclosure Material | Plastic | | External Testing Certification | Não aplicável | | Generation | 4th Generation | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Keyboard Description | Surface Type: Cover | | Keyboard Layout | QWERTY | | Keyboard description | Surface Type: Cover | | Manufacturer | Arteck | | Manufacturer Part Number | HB187 | | Minimum Required Operating System Version | Windows 10 | | Model Name | Arteck Microsoft Surface Pro Type Cover | | Model Number | HB187 | | Number of Batteries | 1 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Number of Keys | 78 | | Number of Packs | 1 | | Number of Sections | 1 | | Power Source | Battery Powered | | Product Features | Portable, Lightweight, Wireless, Magnetic | | Product Warranty | 2 Year Limited Warranty | | Recommended uses for product | Gaming, Office | | Series Number | 187 | | Special feature | Portable, Lightweight, Wireless, Magnetic | | Style Name | Classic | | Switch Type | Mechanical | | Theme | Daily Use | | UPC | 741527408732 | | Unit Count | 1.0 count | ## Product Details - **Brand:** Arteck - **Colour:** Black - **Compatible devices:** Microsoft Surface Pro - **Connectivity technology:** Bluetooth - **Included components:** USB Cable - **Keyboard description:** Surface Type: Cover - **Material:** Plastic - **Recommended uses for product:** Gaming, Office - **Special feature:** Portable, Lightweight, Wireless, Magnetic - **Style:** Classic ## Images ![HB187 - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/610U8RTr4vL.jpg) ## Questions & Answers **Q: I Lost my instructs can someone guide me how to pair please** A: Hold down the power button in the top right of the keyboard until you see one very long flash of the right (green) LED. If you see three short flashes, repeat this step as you just turned the keyboard off! Hold down Fn and tap C. The left (blue) LED should start flashing - the keyboard is now in pairing mode. The device is called "Bluetooth 3.0 Keyboard". **Q: Is there a light on this arteck keypad. i lost my instructions for this iteam.tell me how to turn back light on t you** A: No there is no light **Q: Does this work while detached from the surface? I want something that works like the original type cover with the option to remove the keyboard & type** A: Yes - this is the biggest surprise plus for me, really handy. The downside of that is that they keys are still live when you flip the keyboard over, so keys are active and get pushed by your knee etc. It's easy enough to switch keyboard off if doing that for long periods, but I forget. **Q: Can i also have my Bluetooth speakers working at the same time as the keyboard** A: It can pair to up to 8 devices at a time but will only stay connected to 2 at the same time. I hope this helps ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This is the keyboard Microsoft should have made. *by J***N on 14 November 2022* Bought as a replacement for a years-old MS keyboard which came with the Surface. It connected via Bluetooth really easily. I was a little sceptical as it isn't a Microsoft product, but honestly wouldn't know the difference. Was super easy to connect and within minutes it was installed and works just as well as the more expensive Microsoft equivalent. ## Frequently Bought Together - Arteck Microsoft Surface Pro Type Cover, Ultra-Slim Portable Bluetooth Wireless Keyboard with Touchpad Built-in Rechargeable Battery - Metapen Stylus Pen M1 for Microsoft Surface (75-Day Battery Life, Smooth Writing), Compatible with Surface Pro 11/10/X/9/8/7/6/5/4/3/Book 3/Laptop 4/Studio 2, ASUS VivoBook Flip 14 for Students&Doers - Fintie Case for 12.3 Inch Microsoft Surface Pro 7 Plus, Surface Pro 7/6/5/4/3 - Portfolio Business Cover with Pocket, Compatible with Type Cover Keyboard, Gray --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.it/products/390409165-hb187](https://www.desertcart.it/products/390409165-hb187) --- *Product available on Desertcart Italy* *Store origin: IT* *Last updated: 2026-10-03*
