The wind-up feature actually works well and also glad I chose one with back up AAA batteries as well as the inbuilt lithium one. It does charge my mobile phone too. I don't know if the solar power function will do much. The lights are powerful and could be quite useful. The SOS alarm is loud - I set it off accidentally! Overall a very good product - I was pleasantly surprised just how good it is, especially after the poor alternative I had previously purchased. Battery life still good. Great reception. Just one downside; volume control. In the dark or when waking up, I'm always guessing where the volume is with the two-button system. A far more convenient method would be a single rotary knob. If the idea is to keep the exterior design flush for storage, then a rotary knob could be retractable via a push-in/out mechanism.
