Perfect replacement for bad plugs on extension cords

Heavy duty socket and plug. Positive screw capture on bare wires you can really snug them down for a tight connection without concern for stripping. Strain relief opening has insert that can be removed for larger diameter cords. The fact they glow green made my day. Also, the screws are open to the max, so you just have to insert wires and tighten securely. I did cut one of my 100' cords in half and used these kits to make 2 more manageable 50' extensions. Did I say they glow green? Screws are color coded so refer to instructions and follow them to be sure, but this is what I did. green=green ground wire copper=black/hot silver=white

Company promptly got in touch and made it right. Updated to five stars. Cheap/brittle plastic. I’ve only used the extension cord I added one of these plugs to a couple of times this summer. A large clear plastic piece has already broken off one of the plugs. So if you get these, just know that you’ll be using the entire box pretty quickly as they don’t hold up.

I write this to minimize the poor reviews - there are no directions with product but the following should assist . #1-use a new /undamaged or unworn phillips driver - consider a 6-in1 combination driver (cheap) . #2-when separating the 2halves , back out screws a 1/4 turn each & repeat - takes more time but minimizes pressure on crews & threads . #3 ALWAYS keep DIRECT /straight '' perpendicular '' pressure on connection (screw head&driver tip when loosening or tightening-remember the " 1/4 turn then move to next screw & repeat !" #4 Strip outer insulation / casing back 1 1/8'' & slide the base half onto the cord ( don't tighten to cord yet ). #5 strip each wire insulation 1/2'' , twist wire strands with fingers as you slide finger tips off ends - this will aline any loose strands . #6 Check that all 3 screw heads are backed off & entry holes are open completely - these holes are NOT spaced equally apart from each other ! #7 Gently slide one wire into correct hole (they are color coded) making sure 1/16" of wire insulation enters each hole before tightening (even pressure turn driver slowly - do not over tighten ) , do same for remaining two wires . #8 Slide base onto the half you just connected wires to .These 3 screws are NOT spaced equally so aline screws BEFORE tightening screws !! - these screws have threads that are much further apart than any other screws on this product , DO NOT TIGHTEN MORE THAN 1/4 TURN EACH UNTIL ALL 3 HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED ! ! #9 The outer cord casing/insulation should extend just beyond the 3 clamp bars so that they do not contact the 3 wires - important !! If outer casing does not extend beyond these 3 bars , the wire insulation may become damaged/cut . You will need to go back to step #7 & shorten the wires 1/8'' - You may be able to push wire in 1/16'' to avoid shortening wires ? #10 Tighten both screws ( 1/4 turn each until tight ) that result in clamping cord to new cord end . I have use these on 2 separate 100 ' cords both are 12 - 3 . Both pairs of cord ends worked perfectly , no problems , no damage to screw heads , both have bright green illuminated ends the plugged in . Key points - Use New or Unworn tools ! Keep driver **perpendicular** to screw heads !! Turn SLOWLY , 1/4 turns then move to next screw & repeat . Glad to have purchased the 5 pack , highly recommend .

These extension cord ends are a nice high quality and they are easy to install. My only concern was that they are not sealed for waterproofing. They are not too bad, but some water could still get in. I used clear silicone to really make them water-tight and that seems to have worked perfectly. The price isn't terrible because of the quality, but they are still a little pricey for my taste. They light up when connected to power, which is why I wanted these specifically, but the price difference for that feature is pretty high. Overall, I would recommend these ends because they will last a good long while.

Easy to install works amazing nice green light to tell you exactly where the end of the plug is

Easy to use. The internal light is great. Wish they were water proof, but seem to hold up in weather anyway. Just installed another end last weekend. They are easy to use.

I have an old extension cord and the ends have seen better days however the wire was in good condition - I really like the idea of having lights at both ends of the plugs - seems so simple to include (just a small LED is required). Well after wired it up it worked great and I like the feel and the quality. It is recommended for 18/3 to 12/3 wire - just in case you need to know. These are also rated at 15 amps which is the most common. Don't hesitate to purchase these - they will not disappoint.

Very well made , not cheap construction . Work good for winter cords .

These are very well made. I like them better than others that I have bought at my local hardware store. I always seem to need one when I don't have any on hand. That won't be a problem for a while. When I run out, I'll buy more of these

These are great just as good if not better then the factory ones as they are brighter and if cord gets damaged you can reuse them ! I purchased the more expensive ones and there’s is No difference!

Better than Leviton. The green led is powerfull and the contact are solid.
