Will this work with a Samson Q2U microphone?

Hi there, thank you for your question. Yes, our isolation shields are compatible with most microphones because microphone clips screw easily onto our mounting hardware. Our hardware also includes a 3/8" to 5/8" adapter for both sizing formats. Just make sure you still have your microphone clip :)

Am I going to need something soft under this to eliminate reverb or will putting this on a desk be good enough?

Hi there, Thanks for your question. There isn't a simple answer to this question because each room setup and layout is different. This isolation shield tremendously helps eliminate reverb in recordings but if the area where you're recording already runs "hot", simply having this shield will not be sufficient. Take a listen to your current recordings and see how they sound. If there is a ton of echo/reverb coming through, you'll likely also need additional treatment to fix the problem. However, if the reverb being picked up from your microphone is mild to minor, this shield alone should do the trick. Hope that helps! TRUE NORTH
