To be honest I didn't know what an Alpaca was 30 days ago. My wife and I love the Brooklinen website and their products so I decided to purchase a throw blanket for her and read a review on the New York Times that their baby alpaca throw was the best on the market. Purchased for Christmas and she loves it, said it's the best blanket she ever owned. I was jealous of course so went to their site to purchase and they were sold out. So my web search began... And I found the Maloca Alpaca website, and later found that they also sell through Amazon. I first purchased the baby alpaca throw. It really is great. It's incredibly soft. It is 'thin' as others have mentioned and thinner than the throw from Brooklinen but it's very warm. Comparing with the thicker Brooklinen throw I find this just as warm, but more comfortable because it's lightweight. The quality is top notch, and the herringbone weave gives the throw a great look and feel. So I started to read more and realized that they also sell the Royal Alpaca throw. A quick web search provided details of how royal was even better quality. This can't be! I have to order and find out, maybe I'll have to return the baby alpaca throw and move to royal? Well royal arrived and it's everything that baby is and better, a bit softer (if that's even possible) and the fringe is different. The dimensions of both throws is the same, but not really because the royal has very small fringe at each end, compared to the baby that has longer fringe. So you do get more blanket with the royal. It's truly amazing. After (not) much thought I decided I must have both and so I do, and I switch them back and forth and sometimes use them together. Best buys I've made on Amazon in awhile. Truly a fantastic product!

Better than expected. Read a few reviewers saying it is thin so I was expecting it to be thin and fragile. It isn't thin. I guess if you are expecting regular cotton blankets or even fluffy cashmere, then this would be thin. The throw is very well made. It is a densely woven and "thin" but very silky and smooth. There's a lot of drape. Warm and comfortable. Came in a heavy box perfect for a gift. I bought the red. In person, it is darker... maroon red. Would be lovely to travel with it.

Expensive and worth it! Even my dog knows the difference! He tries to sit in my lap every time I throw it across my lap. Soft as velvet and very warm. I have even worn as a shawl around my shoulders. I pack it as it very lightweight and very warm. Your are worth an occasional indulgence! Read how to care for it. You cannot wash it with the sheets...

I searched for an alpaca throw blanket for some time and after reading many many reviews I settled on this one. I noticed a number of people were saying it was fairly thin, but surprisingly held heat pretty well. I decided to pay attention to the majority of reviewers, and am glad I did! I bought for my wife for Christmas, she was completely stoked with how amazingly soft it is, and she also was surprised with how warm it kept her. The quality of craftsmanship is surprising for this price, compared to some I looked at for multiple times the price. She couldn’t be happier, and in turn I am too! Do your wife or loved one a favor and get one if these, I’m sure they’ll be stoked too

Overpriced, as much as I wanted to live it, I returned. Quality but not representative of the cost.

Beautiful, nice weaving, soft to touch and provides a very comfortable warmth…. Stitching along edges could be upgraded to prevent wear or damage upon cleaning. 5 stars if size was a bit longer and wider

Wow. So unbelievably soft. I can't wait to give to my mom for her 90th birthday. She's going to be so happy. Well packaged with a cute thank you card. Very satisfied. Update Nov 6, 2019: My mom was thrilled with the alpaca throw. Super soft. Very lightweight. Perfect throw for when she is sitting in her recliner; and she is going to wear it as a scarf when we take her out to a restaurant for her birthday. She felt very fancy wearing it. i can see she will be using it daily. So happy with this quality throw!

Superb, very high quality product. The blanket is beautiful and luxurious!! Very soft, warm and elegant. I would highly recommend this to anyone interested in buying a real alpaca fiber product. Don't get swayed by those imitation blankets or blended fibers. This is the genuine article, it is exquisite! The blanket arrived just as described by the seller and 5 days early. The blanket itself is durable, strong, and lightweight (don't be afraid to use it on a daily basis). Yet, it was carefully and delicately packed for shipping respectful of it's superfine quality. This is a very good company.
