Four times 1 gallon bottles. BTW I recommend getting a bunch of 1 quart bottles instead. Lifting these heavy 1 gallon bottles in and out of the fridge to pour water gets old quickly.

Which metal the cap is made of? Aluminum? Stainless steel?

neither, painted regular steel that will rust if you chip the paint

What material are the caps made of?

Me and the jugs are in different places just now, so I can't just look and give you an answer, but, if I remember correctly, the caps that I used when they were bubbling were made of plastic, then, when fermentation stopped, I put tin caps on the jugs. If you're willing to wait a month or so, I can look at the jugs and give you a definite answer.
