Great tool for espresso making
This is built like a tank and helps me achieve a level tamp each time, effortlessly. Yes, it’s more expensive than an inexpensive conventional tamper, but it’s worth the price difference based on product quality and how well and easily it performs the task at hand. It comes with three springs, each associated with a different level of pressure, however, I found that all that is needed is the smallest / lightest and job’s done without any fuss. Easy to disassemble and easy to clean. I would recommend.

Worth the money, would recommend!
It is an expensive tamper compared to most but is it excellent quality. Comes with different springs to adjust the tamp pressure- I stuck with the pre installed one and it is perfect. Fits sage machine perfectly and performs as expected. Would recommend.

Solid Normcore quality once again
Expensive but it feels like a high quality item in the hand, good weight to it and the mechanism works very well for a nice consistent tamp. Fits all my 58mm portfilters perfectly (as you'd expect) and looks very smart in my little coffee corner. The only minor negative note (hence the docked star) is that coffee can find its way between the tamper and the body of the device which is a bit of a pain to clean. Not a major issue but enough of an inconvenience that it's worth mentioning.

It’s a very good tamper.
I bought this tamper for £37 in October 2024. I was holding off buying one for ages, as I felt it was too expensive for a coffee tamper. Having tried (and returned) other cheaper options, I can say this is indeed worth it. It gives a consistent flat tamp (not angled as the cheaper ones). It has a solid quality feel to it. Perfect fit for the Sage Barista Express. Definitely buy it if you don’t mind the cost.

Mixed feelings, but generally good espresso
So I'm unsure how I feel about this tamper. First off, it's beautifully built, solid and well made with a pleasing weight. Coffee does tend to stick to the tamper base, not sure if there is coatings on my other tampers that stop this, but it seems worse on the Normcore. The issue I have though with this tamper is that it is NOT a calibrated tamper, or a tamper that tamps to a pressure. Using an 18g VST basket the tamper will bottom out before you feel any feedback to know you're tamping to a pressure, such as a click on the (much more expensive) Force Tamper. The tamper does come with 3 more springs but they don't actually serve any extra function than to make your tamping process require more or less force. At the end of the day the results are in the taste of not one espresso, but of multiple espressos. The tamper does tamp the coffee bed perfectly level and to a known pressure, so the results are repeatable and also, in my opinion, excellent. As mentioned using a 18g VST basket, combined with a DF64 grinder and a Legit Mara X, I can make one espresso after another after another and they all give the same flavour profile and extraction time. If you're after a good value tamper which gives repeatable results, this will give you that. If you're looking for a good value version of The Force Tamper with a calibrated click to know you're tamping the same pressure, this is not the tamper for you. As I say, mixed feelings, but going by the taste of my favourite drink, it's a good tamper, just misleadingly advertised.

Ürün bütün espressolarınıza eşit tamperleme sunan yaylı bir mekanizmaya sahip. Bunu gerçekten eşit bir biçimde uyguluyor. İçerisinden birden fazla tamper yayı çıkıyor bunların yaylarının uyguladığı kuvvetler farklı. İsteğinze göre değiştirebiliyorsunuz. Böylelikle kahveye uygulanan kuvvet değişiyor. Hepsinde size kahvenize net bir standart getirmiş oluyor...

I have a very nice, heavy tamper that I've used for 19 years. Recently I got intrigued with the idea of a spring loaded tamper because I never had any idea what force I was using manually. This particular tamper is costly but well worth it, in my opinion because of how it's made and because it also had 2 springs, as well as a total of 3 inner springs to determine tamp pressure. Beautiful, heavy, solid construction. The 25 lb spring that comes pre-installed works best for me and I don't see myself changing it. The design with the leveling plate makes it all quite easy to press down enough. Some reviews complained about the lack of an audible "click" but that isn't necessary. With the leveling plate on top of the filter basket, you just press down the entire distance that you can push and that's it so no click needed. What I've realized though all this is that I was never tamping hard enough with my manual tamper. In addition, when I would press it down hard the tamp would not be even, and one side would usually end up higher than the other, and this led to channeling. It's important to properly prepare the puck. I measure bean weight and grind into the portafilter basket. I use a funnel collar and and WDT tool to distribute the grinds well and break up clumps. I then use a distribution tool, which smooths everything out before the final tamp. Then comes the tamping which I can now do with a consistent, level pressure. I have my grind fineness pretty dialed in at this point and haven't needed to change that up much. Since implementing the puck prep described above, every single time my coffee has turned out perfect. Before doing things this way and without my new tools (i.e. previously using only finger smoothing and tamping with a manual tamper) I had a lot of misses and wasn't usually happy with the espresso I got. I'll say it again....the quality of your shots depends on good, consistent prep of the puck. This tamper is a very necessary part of that prep, I now realize. I recommend this particular tamper very highly. Last comment: You can get the same tamper with a circular ridged bottom. I can't see there would be much advantage to that, and the ridged bottom would definitely catch coffee in the ridged areas, making cleanup a bit more annoying. With this smooth tamper, all it requires is a quick wipe on the bottom (usually nothing there anyway) and then there is a nice little matching cup to set the tamper in.

It perfectly tamps down onto an IMS basket without leaving any powder on the sides of the basket.
