This book I used for my research on Ramanujan. A classic by Hardy who invited Ramanujan from colonial India to Cambridge & who relentlessly made Ramanujan solve unique problems in Mathematics.

Hardy writes a brilliant essay on the value of mathematics. Pure mathematics. He argues that it is completely harmless and useless. He rightfully compares it with "true" art, because after all some of the theorems in math are realy works of art. There is no permanent place for ugly mathematics. Don't look for too much mathematics here. It is all about the profession and Hardy was one of the best at it.
