Compatible garmin gps?

Of course it has everything to do with phone and your navigator As stated...as long as it's not larger than 5" It holds very securely.... I travel quite alot and depend on my Google Maps on my phone. My friend uses a Garmin...and I'm ordering one for her Odessy. So more stick on the windshield to fall off after the sun loosens the glue and it falls off....ugh

Is the mount strong enough to hold a phone that's in a case? I know the phone case can add weight.

That would depend on the phone. Using an IPhone 8plus, in the case, was impossible. The grips do not expand wide enough. Taking the phone in and out of the case is too troublesome. Only one side of the gripper expands, the other side is molded into the body. When the phone was squeezed into the holder, and moved down enough to not interfere with the rear view mirror, it was so tightly wedged that the volume buttons on the phone were not able to be used. Like many other good ideas, this sits in a drawer unused taking up space.
